This place always has what I need. They're very professional. They're very inexpensive. And they do awesome work

I went there to get my front window replace from my Jeep Grand Cherokee amazing work and the best deal in the city. Great job you guys keep up the good fast work. Thanks I was in and out in less then 30 mins

  • *****

Half the price of all the other big companies and they are open late and on weekends. Good place very glad I found them on Yelp.

I had my car broken into a couple nights ago. My back window was smashed to pieces. I heard great things about this place through a friend and was not disappointed. Service was quick, prices were affordable and they did an amazing job. I highly recommend coming here.

Fernandez Auto Glass is a staple in the neighborhood. They've been there for almost 30 years. Needless to say they know what they're doing. They're honest and their prices are very competitive.

My car was broken into and needed to get a new back window installed asap. Fernandez Auto Glass started working on my car as soon as I dropped it off. Highly recommend them.

I've had my windows replaced here multiple times after hoodlums in the city decided to break into my car for change. This place is speedy, has excellent pricing (I challenge you to find a better place, the dealer and Safeway are much more expensive) and a very nice staff. I paid less than $100 to get my passenger side windows replaced. Catch a movie or go to Target while you wait. Love these guys, I refer them to everyone who's had window trouble.

Driving through the city on a rainy day we went over a bump that caused the back passenger side window to bust and slide down. We couldn't get it to go back up so when we got home we duct taped it up. This was a quick fix until we found Fernandez Auto Repair. We pass by it often and decided to stop in. Great decision!

They installed an automatic window regulator within the afternoon for 70 bucks. Best deal around and the guys there were so nice. We never had a problem again. Thanks Fernandez!

A couple of friends recommended Fernandez Auto Glass after someone broke into my car for the stereo.

I'm glad they knew of this place ... it took about 30 minutes for them to replace the passenger side window & it only cost me $50.

I think I've been telling everyone about this place - whether they had a broken window or not!

Absolutely one of the great "buried treasures" on the North Side. Both times that I've come here it was on an "emergency" basis - and the accommodated me immediately and didn't break my bank account in the process! I just wish the waiting room were a little more lady-friendly; car mags and hard-core sports programming on the TV are a little too macho for my taste.

What? Drunk-driver erased my rear-view mirror yet again? No biggie, I call Fernandez. They don't have a used one this time around, but a half-hour and thirty-five bucks later and I'm out. This marks about my sixth trip to this place. And wouldn't you know it, the crack on my windshield is spreading. Again, they don't have a used one, but they quoted me at $200 for my 91 toyota corolla. If only they had more used glass in stock!!!

Nice, fast, affordable. My small rear window was smashed and 20 minutes after arriving at Fernandez early in the morning I was outta there.

  • *****

They made replacing my busted window soooo easy- and quick! Wotta bunch of pros!
Hopefully I won't need to use them again, but if so... it was painless!

  • *****

As quick as this kind of thing can be at a busy place. Plus amazing inventory: they've put new glass in my ten year old Subaru twice without a problem.

  • *****

I found Fernandez Auto Glass and Repair on Yelp. I called and asked if they could replace a side mirror that had been busted off (by me parking in my garage, but that's a different story). They said $60. I repeated that the mirror was completely hanging off by its wires and he still said $60.

So I brought it in last night (Wednesday) around 5:45 and by 6:30 I was driving home with a brand new mirror. What an amazing job they did. They have mirrors and car accessories hanging from every inch of wallspace. Amazing. Quick, cheap and professional. Thanks guys!

I'd like to thank the yelpers for recommending this one b/c I never would have gone here on my own and I'm really glad I did. Some ***ing ****head smashed in my driver's side window last week, even though there was absolutely NOTHING IN MY CAR TO STEAL!! Morons. So I went to Fernandez AG based on the reviews I read here.

They were fast and cheap like everyone said. They didn't have any used glass for my car; but to put in a brand new window, it only cost $99. They even vacuumed up the pieces of glass that were in the little spaces that I wasn't able to reach. That was so nice!

  • *****

The other reviews were all spot on. 40 minutes + $85 to replace smashed side window on a Camry. The last time it cost me $200 at a different place.

    Definitely recommend, look here first!!!

  • *****

After having my car broken into, I turned to Yelp to find a place to get my passenger side window repaired. The Reviews of Fernandez Auto Glass and Repair were spot on. I drove in, and within an hour my window was repaired, and for only $75.

    Great, quick service. Love it.

  • *****

It's a great place, very nice, efficient, hard workers and honest! I got my passenger glass broken and it was changed in 1 hr for a total of 75$!

  • *****

Gave a quote over the phone, had the glass on hand, installed it in less than an hour and stuck to the quote. Great experience. The waiting room could use some magazines or something, though. I'm glad I brought reading material with me.

  • *****

Thanks to all the Yelpers for pointing me to Fernandez. Some precious delinquent broke into my vehicle, couldn't figure out how to open the door locks (hehehe), reached in and grabbed a bag containing maybe $4 in old stuff (another hehehe).

However, it was ready to rain and it's getting cold, so getting the window fixed was a priority. I called Fernandez; he quoted me $125 over the phone and said, "No appointment - just show up." So I showed up at 4:10 pm on a Friday, and was out the door by 5:20 with a perfect, tinted, automatic passenger window. For $123.

For those who like specifics... At rush hour, it's way easier to head north on Western (from below Diversey), so you can turn right into the shop's interior drive (rather than fight crossover traffic). Pull your car in a few car lengths, turn it off, get out, walk into the Office (near the entrance), tell the dude what you need, hand over your keys, sit down or head out (Cornerstone Cafe, Panera, Golden Nugget, Target, etc. are all right by).

Waiting room is old, with chains around the tv, plastic chairs, ancient water dispenser, 2 (count 'em, 2) auto magazines - so bring a book if you don't go out. It's also fun to watch other folks from all walks of life bring in their vehicles in an assortment of conditions, as well as the procedures of what's obviously a mom and pop operation.

Credit cards and cash accepted. (There was a sign about checks, but I didn't read it.) Pick up your car the same day as work is completed or pay $20 storage. Free overnight storage if the work is not completed. Makes sense.

When the work is done, the dude calls out the car type, you pay, you take the receipt and walk back through the shop (it's larger than you'd think), where your car is waiting by the exit with the door open and the key in the column. Go left in the alley and then you're on Elston.

Note: They vacuumed up the majority of broken glass, too, from all over the back seat, floor, and door compartment.

I'd definitely go back, just hope I don't have to.

So today the valet guy rolled down my window and it wouldn't go back up... Only on a day that the wind chill is -20! I called the dealership and was quoted app $500 and I would have to leave my car... I came to Yelp and found Fernandez. I gave them a call and was quoted $135 plus it could be done in an hour after work. They asked if I could get there by 6:15.... As my luck would have it, it took me a half an hour to go 4 blocks downtown. Grrr. I finally got to Fernandez at 6:35. At first, they asked if I would leave my car and I said I would, and I had called.... He remembered me calling and I explained how long it had taken me to get there. The guy said OK. They fixed it in less than half an hour. I was relieved. And for the day I had today, having something go right was a plus! I now know a great place to go to.

The waiting area is small and dingy. I wouldn't recommend having to use the restroom (imagine what the restroom looks like in a mechanic's shop....used by a bunch of men....)

They were nice and accomodating and CHEAP...I would definitely do business with them again.

P.S. They are only open unti 7:00 p.m., not 7:30 as posted on Yelp.

I've had my car window busted twice since moving into the city. Thanks yelpers for leading me to Fernandez. Both times I went there, and both times it cost me a mere 65 dollars and it was done in under an hour.

    Gratefully,
I was given prices from 2 different auto glass places. Gerber wanted $289 & AAAA wanted $292 both + tax which would have made it over $300 for a jeep Wrangler windshield.
Fernandez did it for $155 in 1&1/2 hours. I was impressed with their work as well. They had the glass in stock and they even liked my dog.
Anyone with a glass need should know about them. They absolutely "rock". I got them a case of their choice of beer as a tip.
    Wonderful "Gentlemen"...

I woke up Sunday morning to find my Jeep's window smashed in. After calling numerous auto glass shops that were closed Sunday morning I finally reached a human voice at Fernandez. I gave the guy on the phone my make and model he confirmed he had the window in stock. I drove over and 45 minutes later my car was fixed the glass was all vacuumed up and it was on my way after paying $75. These guys are the best. They really saved my ass being open on a Sunday too.

Being the stupid lazy dumb ass that I am - I have a bad habit of NOT scraping down my winters with a scraper, but rather, making full use of the electronic "open and close" window buttons to hopefully take off all the snow for me (while I sit inside the car trying to stay warm)

Well, after using this method for 3 winters straight, my driver side window finally failed to go up and down anymore, despite being able to hear the motor still working. In a panic because I my window was completely ajar, I looked for some options that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg.

I took my car to Fernandez up the street from where I used to live - not having any idea about this place (prior to my Yelp discover) and just trying my luck as I had passed by this place more than a dozen times.

SOOOO lucky that this is a also a warehouse full of used goodies and learned that I had just broken a bracket off inside of my door and that it would cost me $80 (?) including labor. I can't remember now, but I KNEW it was going to be much more expensive had I taken it to the dealer.

5 stars for fast service, 5 stars for having the part on hand right away, 5 stars cuz I was able to get a used one, 5 stars for the reasonable price!

After discovering my car had been broken into for the THIRD time in one year, I was heartbroken. The drivers side window on my baby Saturn had been smashed in, and ofcourse, nothing taken. After trying to mask the window the best I could from the rain, I went inside to find someone that I could fork over my hard earned cash to for a new piece. I saw all of the positive reviews for Fernandez and decided I would give them a call first thing in the morning. The next day, waking up still pissed off about the window, I called Fernandez a few minutes before they opened. Someone actually answered and after explaining what I needed they checked to see if they had the piece of glass and quoted me a nice price of $100 and told me to bring it over then. I got to Fernandez's and they got to work immediately. The price was $100 on the spot, and the piece of glass perfectly (to my standards) installed! The even vacuumed out my car! That is more than I have done since I have gotten it! THANK YOU Fernandez!

I got a call from my upstairs neighbor today asking if I knew about the busted out rear window on my car. I didn't. I had parked it at 1130 last night and it was broken by 700. Rain is in the forecast and I don't have covered parking. I need a fix now and preferably cheap.
Fernandez Auto Glass was first up on my search for good reason. The other reviews are right on. This place knows what it is doing. I arrived at about 630 that evening and was driving away at 715. 45 minutes. An 05 Civic rear window was only about $160. I was sure it was going to cost more. I was sure I would have to leave the car overnight. I didn't even have time to walk across the street and grab dinner.

  • *****

Like many that have reviewed here I had my car broken into one night this week on the lovely streets of Chicago. Fernandez Auto Glass gave me a very reasonable quote over the phone of $70 to replace the passenger window. I showed up today and they had me in and out in less than 30 minutes.

Very impressed with how easy this was. At least there is some silver lining to this whole experience.

  • *****

Saturday night some asswipe patron of Betty's broke out one of my brand new car's passenger windows. Fernandez came to the rescue, and got me in and out in an hour, and for less than $200. Highly recommended.

  • *****

Five stars all the way. I had a broken drivers side window. They fixed the motor in under an hour and got me out of there for under $100.00. Amazing. I would highly recommend Fernandez for any type of auto window repair.

  • *****

Everyone else is right on--these guys are the best. Came home to find my car's front passenger window broken in, and my GPS gone. My neighbor from downstairs told me about these guys--we called, they had the window and would finish it that night. I went over there, they were super nice, fixed my window, vacuumed out all the glass, and got me out of there in 45 minutes for 75 bucks. Can't recommend these guys enough! They made a really horrible experience not so bad.

Last week, the windshield on my Mazda found a small crack. By Sunday, it tripled in size, and had to be replaced. Called Fernandez, and they quoted me 150 bucks, out the door. Couldn't believe it.

Took it over the next day.. and in about an hour, my windshield was done.
He remembered the quote from the previous day. 150 bucks and I was outta there.

The bad: The place is not as clean as some others have mentioned. The waiting room. Really, I could care less one way or another on the waiting room. If the TV works, I'm happy. Here's where I'd have to take points off though. There was just too much glass on the work floor. Duh, it's a glass shop, right. Still, it was more than I preferred to drive on.

The good: Great price and service. Those guys are great!

The great: They managed to remove the city sticker on my old windshield and put it on the new one. Fantastic!! Hadn't expected that. That make up for the glass on the work floor, and why I gave you 5 stars.

Odds and Ends: It's gonna be an hour. Down the street is a BK, and across the street and down a bit is a pancake house. Flip a coin to see which one to hang out for an hour. When you come back, your car is done.

Just about as good as I could hope for. I called them on the phone and explained that my door window was jammed. It had been broken and repaired in CA, but after a Chicago winter and thaw it wouldn't go down. I wasn't about to bring it back to SF for a fix. The person on the phone explained that it might be the regulator, and that would be $100 and one hour. But it could be something else for $25. Sounds good, so I bring it in.

Everything was as they said. Except it was $70. Everyone was super friendly and nice and it was a short walk to Target and stuff if you want to shop while you wait. Definitely recommend. This was the best repair experience I've ever had,

    Glass Problems, come here first!
These guys are honest, fast and not expensive!

I have been to F.G. twice this year. First time it was upon a recommendation. My rear driver window "Fell" into the door. Of course, it was the coldest day of the year. Called they asked what kind of car I had, they checked to make sure they had the part, gave me a quote. It took about an hour or so but cost exactly what they quoted me ($100).

About a month ago my front passenger window did the same thing (I own a Saab story). I went through the same process but when I got the car back the cost was $50 less than the quote. The problem didn't require any parts, just a repair.

You know most companies would have charged me anyway.

I read about this place on yelp and decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did.

I had a cracked windshield for about a year and thought it was time to get it fixed. I also recently knocked off my drivers side mirror - how convenient. I purchased a mirror on ebay for $20 and asked the people at Fernandez if they could put it back on. They agreed and it only cost $20 extra, which is great because they had to tear off the whole side panel to put it on.

They didn't have any used windshields but a new one was only going to put me back at $145. I thought it would cost much more than that. I had my bike in the back of the car ready to ride home thinking it would take a couple days. To my surprise it was only going to take them 1 hour! I was floored. So i walked over to Target and shopped around for a while.

When I got back it was done. I couldn't have asked for more without breaking my wallet.

I read about this place on Yelp and I was referred by Ashland Auto when I called to get an estimate on getting my drivers side window fixed. I'd been to Doc Ables (NEVER GO THERE, THEY WILL SCAM YOU!) and was quoted $320 for the power window motor and regulator, which they claimed had to be ordered together.

I called Fernandez told them my problem, make, model & Year and was quoted $75. I went today, it took less than an hour and was only $45!! should I need any more work done like this I'm heading straight to Fernandez Auto & Glass repair. Very nice guys, they didn't scam me and they even cleaned my poor drivers side window which looked horrible from me having to pull up my window each time I parked. :)

  • *****

$115 for a new passenger side window and the cleaned all the broken glass out of my car for free without being asked. They were very professional and unlike the place my insurance company recommended are open on both Saturday or Sunday.

I docked one star only because it took longer then they said it would and the waiting room is horrible. Bring a book or two or plan to get a ride.

  • *****

Well waking up to find that some creep decided to break in my car only to get nothing is just annoying. I looked up reviews here on yelp and saw that Fernandez had some good feedback. Called him right away and he asked if i could come right in- of course. I wasnt sure how much this was gonna cost me, but he quoated me a price right away that was a lot cheaper than what I expected. I was out of there in less than 45 minutes! And this whole bad experience ended pleasantly with no added stress. I highly reccomend this place to all yelpers who are victims of the ignorant fools who like to make our lives a little more unpleasant.

Let's go back in time to 1994. I just had purchased a new Jeep Wrangler with full hard doors and a hard top. I took it out to a Bucktown bar and when I returned to my Jeep my passenger side wing window was busted on my door and the change was missing from my ash tray (this was a small compartment in older cars where you would flick ashes from your cigarette). It was too late to do anything that night so I proceeded to sooth my broken window with shots of tequila. The next day (Sunday) I awoke to a pounding headache and rain pouring in through the missing window of my new Jeep. I grabbed the yellow pages (this was a large book filled with phone numbers and advertisements of local businesses throughout Chicago, kind of like the internet on paper) I began looking for somewhere close by. The first place I called was Pilsen Auto Glass on North Western Ave. They asked for my home phone number (this was a telephone that received communication via wire) and called me back 10 minutes later with a quote of $110. I told them that this was the first place I had called and wanted to shop around. The next place I called was Fernandez Auto Glass. I said, "I need a wing window for a Jeep Wrangler." The voice on the other end replied, "Let me guess, the passenger side?" When I asked how he knew, he told me that Pilsen Auto Glass had just called him looking for the glass. Fernandez price...... $55.00!!! I rushed right over and had the window replaced and all the broken glass removed before I could say plop, plop fizz, fizz (this was a commercial on TV for Alka Selzer back in the day).

Since then I have sent DOZENS of people to Fernandez and have gotten MANY, "Thank you so much for referring me's!" in return. I still have the Jeep and just called to have my second windshield replaced. It's $145, the same exact price it was 6 years ago when I last had it replaced.

  • *****

Fabulous work! Done faster than they quoted and charged me less than quoted. They definitely know what they are doing about all car types and brands. I highly recommend going here!

  • *****

So about a day ago my passenger side window got busted in and needed to be replaced. My bf suggested Fernandez so I called at 8:30am, they told me they had a match for my window (Mazda 08) for $110 and I could come in right away. I did just that, they had my window replaced and car vacuumed up all within an hour and for the same price I was quoted on the phone. It was a really quick and easy experience and would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone needing glass replacement! Their waiting room isn't too great but it's not the waiting room you're paying for right?

  • *****

After having the small triangle window busted out of my car I started looking around to have it replaced. My car is old and on it's way out, so I wasn't looking to invest any serious cash into a window that serves no purpose....

Gerber had replaced my drivers-side window a few months ago and did a great job... when I called for a quote they wanted $191.00!!!! WHAT?!
    Totally not an option!

I called Fernandez, told him what window needed to be replaced and the make and model of my car... he instantly gave me a quote of $50 and told me to bring it in whenever I wanted...

I showed up an hour later... he had the new window in place within and hour AND my total was $50... no hidden labor fees, nothin... just $50!

The place looks a tad sketchy... but the guy I talked to was really nice and they got the job done for a price that's not going to leave me eating Ramen till my next paycheck!

    Thumbs UP!

  • *****

called @ 8:10am. got there at 8:50. fixed by 9:50. cheaper than any other place. quality work. nuff said.

So some crackhead decides to smash out my driver's side window and rip out the display of my iPod player on my dash. I figure this guy thought it was a GPS... but I got the last laugh, because his crack dealer probably rejected something which was obviously a piece of junk without the rest of the system attached. The biggest disappointment of the day was that we were gonna take my son to see the dinosaurs at the Brookfield Zoo, but even my 2.5 year old saw the window and said, "car broken," and understood the dinos we promised him for days wasn't gonna happen. I filed my police report, and called our repair garage, Nal's (see previous review). They referred me to Fernandez Autoglass. I believe I spoke to Fred at Fernandez who asked what make/year car I had. He said they had it in stock, I asked how long, he said less than an hour, I said how much, he said $70. From the time I came upon the damage at 10 AM, filed the report, made a few phone calls, cleaned the glass off my seat, dropped the car off at 11, and before 12 PM I had a new window. These guys are awesome... and I hope that crackhead suffered at least the early stages of withdrawal, or had to perform oral sex on someone else who hadn't bathed in days to get his fix... What this person didn't know is I had Fernandez on my side.

  • *****

I just made a profile so I could review this place because they basically made my day. It's a bummer to start your morning with a busted in car window, but the whole ordeal was over by 10:30am thanks to these guys. Gerber was asking $197 to repair my front passenger window when some jerk broke it in a failed attempt to find anything of value in my Honda. Fernandez replaced the window for $75. They said it would take an hour to do, but it took half that time. And they vacuumed out the broken glass. Quick, cheap, and easy.

  • *****

They do a professional job in a short time and for a very reasonable price. I drove in on a Sunday morning at 10:50am without an appointment. I was on my way in an hour and a half and they even replaced the side hinge (this was a sliding minivan door window), all for less than I was expecting and FAR less than my Ford dealer quoted me. Thanks, guys. Should some jackass smash out my window again to steal a $10 radio receiver, I know where I'm coming!

  • *****

Should your car window get smashed in like mine, and you need to get a new window asap, just go to Fernandez. This place is like a PDQ but for new windows. It's that fast. You can call to make an appointment or just show up and tell them what you need. It's also right by a movie theatre too so I'd suggest just going to a movie so that you don't have to sit in a smelly lobby thinking about how much your life sucks as you wait for your repair to finish. Just don't make the mistake of seeing the Time Travelers Wife like I did.

Anyway, they charge a little more than other places, from what I gather, but who has time to call around to all the local repair shops to see where is cheapest? I guess, if you want to wait for another place to fit you in to save a few bucks and plan on buying a ton of hefty bags and duct tape to make a new window until then, go right ahead. Otherwise, I'd just call Fernando or whatever his name is, and tell him what's up.

  • *****

Wow, that is hilarious and really pathetic how most of the reviewers had their car windows smashed... alas, i'm one of them.
I woke up to find my passender front window smashed to smithereens bc someone noticed i had a gps console on my dashboard and must mean i have a gps hidden in my car. they stole it. jerks!!
this place was recommended by car x and i got my car window replaced in an hour for $100.
note, it depends on your car model, my car was a 06 toyota corolla.
    fast, cheap, friendly service!

  • *****

affordable! super fast. They repaired my broken window in one hour and vacummed out all the glass!

  • *****

I also had the unfortunate experience of my car window being smashed for no good reason ('98 Ford Explorer). Luckily I had the day off (not quite the way I wanted to spend it) and was able to have my window fixed asap...thanks to Fernandez Auto Glass!!

I started off by calling Gerber and they quoted me $400+ to fix my window. I figured that was not normal, so then I called Fernandez. I talked with Fredrico and he said I could bring my car in anytime that day AND they would have it done within the hour for a little over $100 bucks. The window was smashed on both sides (the main window and the small side window) and the metal frame was broken. I thought this would add another $100 to the price, but no, the total was $140! Needless to say, I am THRILLED to have saved over $200 and I am already planning a return trip to have the crack in my window fixed.

  • *****

I'd had a problem with my windows for years. They were slow to roll up and often got stuck. I took it to a shop years ago, and they guy couldn't fix them. Fernandez took care of it the day I called, a Saturday (they're open until 3), in half an hour, for only $60. Sweet. I did negotiate for this price, because they only charge $50 an hour for labor (but they put two guys on it). I was a little concerned because they would not guarantee the work, but the guy said that was because all they did was lubricate -- no parts. So he lowered the price.

First off, they're open on Sundays which is a huge benefit.

Drove in, he gave a quote as we stepped out of the car that was way cheaper than quote over the phone from one of the big shops, said it would be done in an hour. We had a nice breakfast at a cute cafe up the street, came back early and it was already done.

Definitely the fastest and cheapest way to get the job done.

  • *****

I am sitting in their lobby as I type. So far so good. They get 5stars for squeezing me in at 1:40pm.... on a Sunday ... after I discovered my car was broken into. Very nice and understanding!

  • *****

Fernandez! I am ready for someone else to break one of my windows so that I can have great service again. FYI: don't leave GPS in plain sight even in a good area during the day, someone might think they like your GPS more than you do.

Back to Fernandez.... I called a few places just by googling auto glass in the area and Fernandez had the best price on used glass. So on a Saturday at 11am I stopped in and within an hour I had my drivers door glass replaced and the remaining glass vacuumed up. I was out the door for $77 with tax for an original Audi glass. Thanks Fernandez.

I love this place, and I have unfortunately needed to go there three times within 18 months.

The first time, my car was parked on the street and someone decided to steal my "fancy" 10-year-old Sony radio that did not have a backlight anymore. However, I did not take the faceplate off so I cannot be TOO mad about it. They smashed in my driver's side window to take the radio, and Fernandez replaced it quickly and for the price they quoted (which I forget now, but it was significantly less than when I had the window replaced by the dealer!).

The second time, my car was parked in the back of my building and my newly-installed Kenwood radio was stolen. This time I HAD taken the faceplate out, but still kept it in the center console (out of sight). Argh. It snowed in my car and it really sucked, but I brought my car back to Fernandez and they fixed my passenger side window this time in no time at all!

Today I went outside and was in the backyard and noticed a brick sitting near my car. After investigating, I saw that none of my windows were completely smashed, but my WINDSHIELD now has a HUGE crack in it; much too huge to let this one go. Seriously, delinquents, if you're going to smash a window PLEASE made it one of the side windows which are cheaper to replace! This time there really wasn't anything in my car to take, as I had the factory radio re-installed to prevent this type of incident.

However, I called Fernandez and once again, they have come to the rescue. I was quoted $155 for a new windshield (well, I imagine it will be a recycled one) and although I'm kind of mad I need to go back, I am glad there is a place like Fernandez around!

    The second

Just had the window tint in my car removed and it only cost $20 per door. The guys had to go on lunch when I got there, but returned and I was out the door in only one hour. Not bad, hope those Chicago cops will start picking on someone their own size now...

Woke up on Sunday morning to find my window had been smashed. (oh joy.) I went straight to Yelp to find a good repair place and Fernandez looked pretty promising.

I called at 9am, they gave me a super low quote immediately ($65 plus tax for a front passenger window) and could have my car fixed in under an hour. I bundled up, turned up the heat, drove over to the shop & they got right to work on my window. They did a great job and even cleaned up all of the glass that was spread over the entire front area of my car. Wonderful service! They were nice, professional, and overall fantastic.

Plus I got to watch the Toys for Tots motorcycle parade on Western while I waited. Bonus!

I would HIGHLY recommend Fernandez! Support this business!

  • *****

I have a Pontiac Sunfire which had a cracked windshied. Another garage recommended Fernandez Auto. Had a quick chat on the phone with them, they gave me a quote for $110 for a replacement second hand windshield. It would take them an hour to do the replacement and as long as I brought it in before 6:00 PM, they'd do it same day. All the above criteria was met and I was driving back home at around 7:00 PM with the car as good as new.

Maybe it's just me, but I get a little kick whenever I "join" one of Yelp's unofficial reviews club. For example:

    * The "Holy smokes - take a look at how much sushi I bought on the cheap" Club (Lawrence Fish Market)
    * The "The ridiculously decadent duck fat fries are so worth the long wait" Club (Hot Doug's)
    * The "Paul Kahan is THE MAN, even if he doesn't give a damn about my personal space" Club (Avec)

Well, it's time to add one more to the list:

    * The "Some dumbass smashed my car window looking for who-knows-what but at least I was able to get it fixed quickly and rather inexpensively" Club (Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair)

Long story short, our car got broken into in the West Loop early Friday evening. Odds are, the person was looking for our GPS because I had left the mount stuck on the window (dumb Eddy). But since we didn't have our GPS in the car, the person ended up leaving empty-handed and actually didn't take anything at all. Not our roll of quarters (post-"insane parking prices" but pre-pay box days). Not any of our CD's (I guess the person isn't a fan of our music). Not even my sunglasses (while I'm overall relieved by this, a small part of my ego is hurt).

Possessions still intact, my finacee went on Yelp to find a place to get our window fixed. Fernandez and turned out to be the logical place to go because everyone seemed to rave about how they will fix your window fast and cheap with no hidden fees or any sort of BS. So I swung by on a Saturday morning right when they opened. They quoted me $75 to fix it and I decided to wait in their waiting room for it (TIP: bring a book or magazine because otherwise you'll be bored out of your mind). It took roughly an hour to get a new window put in and to have all the glass vacuumed out. Final price: $75 + tax = $77.05. The window sounds a little different when I power it up and down but it works fine.

While I would not have minded had I never joined this particular club, I am glad Fernandez lived up to its billing in every way. Thanks, Fernandez!

This place was a life-saver! They fixed my car quickly, on a sunday morning, they were affordable, and did it all with friendly service. You can't beat this place. I would take my car here, again, anytime.

So a mere 10 days ago was the beginning of it all, really. I drove in during morning rush hour, pleased that since it was MLK day, no traffic, but slightly disgruntled that yes, it's MLK day, why am I working?! Parked my car in our semi-seedy office neighborhood and headed in for the day. Come 5:30, I decided to move my car closer - so as to avoid any SVU possibilities later in the evening - lo and behold, there she was. My little bambino so obviously violated. Her window pulled from its frame and her lovely after market self installed song box stolen.

Thankfully Sam at Fernandez Auto Glass is open later than most and was able to assure me that she was not beyond repair. He told me that the parts needed would be ordered and in by Thursday morning. I dropped her off and in less than 90 minutes and 50 bucks later, my bambino was as good as gold.

How I adore car places that don't rip off because you are either a)ignorant, b)female, or c) an unlucky combination of a and b. Thank you, Sam! Hopefully, I won't be needing your services again, but if so, I know just where to turn,

I was shocked to find my front passenger window shattered yesterday morning. I searched on Yelp and Fernandez stood out. My experience there confirms all the other great reviews. I arrived at 9:00, and was out the door within the hour with a replacement window and all the broken glass vacuumed up. The staff, especially Fernandez, were super-friendly and the cost was a more than reasonable $75 for my Honda Civic. Thanks for making the best of an unpleasant experience, Fernandez!

My new-to-Chicago car was ticketed for having tint on the drive and passenger side window.

After checking Yelp, I called Fernandez for a price quote and was told $35. I took my car in and 15 mins later, they had removed the tint and it only cost me....$35.

  • *****

I woke up this morning to my boyfriend's passenger window being smashed. what a way to start monday. anyway I did some researching on yelp and found Fernandez reviews to be great.

I called them up got a quote of $75 to replace the passenger window (power) of a 95' VW jetta including labor and the window itself.

I drove down there walked in he took the keys asked for my number and said he would call in an hour. I then had some chipotle down the street got a call promptly after one hour, went back to Fernandez, paid $75 and took the car.

I can't not recommend this place enough. Getting your car broken into is stressful and sucks. They were very kind, very helpful, got the job done efficiently and PROPERLY, oh yeah and it was $75. There is no need for making an apt. just walk in give them the keys and it will be fixed in an hour!!

I updated my Facebook status 43 minutes ago with how I was sitting in the waiting room of Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair getting my passenger front window fixed after being smashed by some local hoodlums who also made away with my portable GPS.

$111 (incl. tx) and 43 minutes (including drive time home!) later and I'm back to normal...minus a Garmin of course.

Highly recommended. Another reviewer mentioned that the waiting room was light on the amenities and suggested bringing a magazine, which I did. Great suggestion as they have chairs and that's it.

This whole morning was way less painful than I anticipated after finding the broken window.

  • *****

My car window got smashed back in January while I was working. I called these guys up after getting their name from the guys at Ashland Tire (best auto shop in Chicago BTW).

They gave me a quote over the phone that seemed super cheap. I drove in that night and they fixed it while I waited--30minutes and I was outta there!

Hopefully I won't need to use them again but I have been recommending them ever since!

  • *****

When my power window motor broke, I was referred to Fernandez by Speedline Auto.

They gave me a reasonable estimate ($110 for 60-90 minutess worth of work) over the phone, which I appreciated, and despite the fact that I walked in to find a full waiting room, they'd replaced my motor in half an hour. They have a $60/hour labor minimum, but only charged me the half hour ($30), plus the price of the new motor ($20). A nice surprise!

It's true that the waiting room leaves something to be desired, but bringing something to do while you wait is to be expected.

  • *****

I showed up without an appointment, got my quarter glass replaced for ~60% less than it would have cost at Safelite, and ended up paying less than they originally estimated, all in a matter of 45 minutes.

If that's not worth 5 stars I don't know what is.

  • *****

I had my car window broken last week...I was distrought and had to find a quick replacement. someone had recommneded this place and wow - within an hour I was out with a new affordable window.

    great quick service

  • *****

Some D-bag that I hope rots in hell broke a window on my car to get some CDs, I called my brother to tell him I wasn't going to make it to his place because of it and he said "Go to Fernandez and ask for a used window", he also recommended I spoke in spanish to get a better deal. $75 and less than an hour I was good to go. Fast, courteous and clean.

  • *****

This morning I found my passenger side window smashed, so I went to Fernandez after reading good reviews on Yelp. The gentleman at the front desk was courteous and knowledgeable. They fixed my window in one hour (from the time I walked in, without an appointment) and charged me $75, which is exactly what they quoted me prior to doing the work. I don't think auto repair shops get any better than this!

  • *****

So imagine my shock when I left work Friday afternoon and I found my whole BACK window busted out because of the storm! Mother Nature, you evil BITCH! But no need to fret. I high tailed it STRAIGHT to Fernandez for an emergemcy replacement. Hmmm, Mother Nature was very busy on Friday because there were 3 folks ahead of me with various broken car windows, but that that's ok. The wait was a little under 2 hours but well worth it as Fernandez only charged me $100 and that included labor and the window.

Both me and my Corolla are now very happy!

  • *****

people, pls dont forget they are also very capable of replacing other auto parts as needed. forgo the dealer and call Fred to see if he can help you out. i am currently in need of three exterior door handles for a 99' park avenue. i received numerous quotes for over 500.00. Fred says no problem he can paint and replace for $60.00 ea!!! i just have to get paint from the dealer. WOW!!

  • *****

This is a no-frills kind of place. They do a great job though. They are honest and the price that they quote is the price that you pay. They are very flexible and fit you in even when they are about to close. Very fast service. Hope to never return, but if I need to, I will absolutely go back.

  • *****

Last night, my car was broken into (along with 15 of my neighbors) I called Fernandez since it is right around the corner from my house....They charged me $75 to replace the front, driver side window of a 2010 Hyundai and it only took them 40min to do the job (used window, but who cares)......Call these guys before you agree to any other glass repair in the city, as I couldn't find anyone else in the city that could touch that price (labor and broken glass clean up included)

  • *****

I won't bore you with the details of my broken window, but what I want to say is that all of the other review are accurate. I was referred to Fernandez by one of their competitors because they said my repair was simple and Fernandez could do it for less - bottom line, they were professional, respectful and up front about the cost. Also, they were really fast!!
Don't waste time calling for other quotes - they deserved every penny of my small bill!

  • *****

This place rocks. I've been here countless times from my days as a snotty teenager to now. They fix most windows in approx. 1 hour which is awesome and they have great prices!

I'm giving them 4 stars due to the waiting room lacking a decent AC. I was there during the summer heat wave and the room was very hot despite the AC running.

  • *****

Fast service! Brought my car in to have the front tint removed (finally bowed down to the corrupt City of Chicago that keeps ticketing even though auto-window tint is now legal in the entire state.. but I digress:) Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair was fast fast fast! Great price and courteous service. Definitely recommended.

  • *****

Not surprised they average five stars out of five. Inept thieves broke our old Toyota's rear vent window, and I took it to this place the next morning. Half an hour and $50 later, it was good as new. Fernandez is speedy, polite, efficient, and competent.

  • *****

Yep, this place is the shit. No frills, so don't expect someone to greet you or write up an estimate, but it's fast, cheap, and there are plenty of things to do in the meantime. We had one of the triangular rear windows replaced after some punk ass kid in our hood threw something through it, and it cost $50 and took 45 minutes. Pain in the ass to deal with, but this place made it tolerable.

  • *****

Some #*&%$'er broke my passenger side vent window a few weekends ago. All they got was my work bag (full of books, I bet they were thrilled). They even opened my glove compartment - all that's in there are cassettes. Nice work gents.

So I called Gerber because I had heard that they do a free "mobile" service where they come to you to replace the window. They quoted me $170 bucks to replace a tiny triangle of a window that doesn't even open. No thanks. So I called the fine folks at Ashland Tire to see if they did replacements - they do not, but the gentleman on the phone referred me to Fernandez, saying "It's not exactly the Taj Mahal, but they're fast and fair priced. I just took my own car there."

I brought it in Monday morning - they said it'd take about 45 minutes so I figured I'd wait around. 35 minutes later they were done and it only cost me 89 bones! You'd be a fool to go anywhere else for a window repair. Thanks, Fernandez!

  • *****

My mechanic sent me here, after a rock broke my front window.
$150 and an hour later, I had a new windshield. They did a terrific job - even transferred the city sticker and remounted my iPass.
The place looks sketchy, the waiting room is a dump, but I'm not there for the decorating. Good work, reasonably priced, fast.

  • *****

These guys are amazing! They could not be more polite, professional, honest, or affordable. Their high-quality service is also very fast, they will have you out in no time. I have used them 3 times (yeah, so I'm prone to catastrophes) and have been highly satisfied with their work each time.

  • *****

Great, honest, fairly priced auto repair shop in the city! These guys rock! I went this morning to get my side view mirrors replaced (someone vandalized my car) and I was in and out within 45 minutes to an hr and there were about 4 people ahead of me. I will be back.

  • *****

I spoke with Fred from Fernandez the morning after someone broke into my car, smashed my driver side window and stole my GPS. He told me that it would cost me $75 to replace the window and that it could be done in an hour's time. He was soooo right! Upon arriving at Fernandez and seeing all of the car parts that they had, my bf realized that he should come there to get his door handle, sun roof, and hatchback all repaired. Score! Thanks Yelp for helping me quickly locate efficient and reasonable service!

It seems every time Ive come to Chicago there is and issue with my car or the persons car that Im with, so it was no surprise to me that this trip would not be any different. I parked outside of a friends building that I was staying with and while everyone I have talked to and know from the Chicago area says they live in a great neighborhood with no crime problem I of all people would find the issue! I parked and went into my friends place, leaving my purse, bag, and gps in the car. While Im very aware that this is stupid and naive of me I figured that since I would only be there for a half hour tops before leaving again to pick up my friends daughter from school that my things would probably be okay....WRONG!

When I went back out to my car not even and hour after having parked it on the street in broad daylight some *sshole had busted in my passenger window and stole my gps, to my amazement leaving my purse and bag. After doing some research on auto glass places I came across Fernandez Auto Glass and made the call, they gave me a phone estimate of $70 and told me that it would take an hour and fifteen minutes!! HOLY CRAP! Seriously!?! I figured this was the quote for just the window without labor charges but after going there today I was in and out in 35 minutes with two people ahead of me and only a $73 tab!! Insane! I was more than impressed with how fast they got my car done and the cost cant be beat!

Thanks to all the guys at Fernandez to make such a bad experience turn around quick!

If you don't care about name brand parts, and if spray paint looks good enough, then this is your place.

I drive a freakin' 03 camry and I needed my rear view mirror replaced and painted. I've had quotes for $300 (up to $500) to replace/paint. Fernandez did it for $100. They spray painted it, and I can't tell the difference. You can't either.

My dad was also with me and he got his Lexus windshield replaced. The dealer wanted $2000. Fernandez did it for $300. My dad says he can tell it's not 'Lexus quality' ( I don't believe him), but for a $1700 difference, I'm sure he's ok with it.

If you're reading this, that means you have some sense and you haven't gone to the dealer yet. No one cares about your glass. Fernandez provides you with affordable glass that you can see through clearly. It's quick (few hours with appointment) and cheap. Just don't walk around barefoot in their shop - you'll end up like John Mcclain in Die Hard.

The motor to roll the window glass on driver's side was broken in my 99 Camry, I went to Pepboys on N Clyborn, but they don't do electrical work, so the associate in the store gave me the address and phone # of Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair. I called in and asked the price, they quote $90 with the used original part, I cannot believe it, it is just a 1/3 of the quote that I received from other auto repair shops for off-market part. I went there on Friday morning, the technician showed me the part that he is going to use on my car, it was the original Toyota motor (used one). It only took them about an hour to finish the work. Everything was like the told me, no any extra charge. They only provide 90days guarantee on their parts and service, but my window works fine after 7 months. I highly recommend this place, they open longer hours during weekday, which is a big plus to most of people who can only get off work at 5pm.

    Fernandez to the rescue...again!

On Saturday afternoon I get a nice spider crack in the middle of the passenger side of my window. I have no internet access so I give up and just take the car home.

Found Fernandez and called on Sunday morning. Yes, they are really and truely open on Sunday! They said to bring my car ('98 Camry) in by 1 p.m. and it would be $150. I had it in to them at 11:40 a.m. and by 12:40 p.m. I was driving out with my brand new windshield for $150 + tax.

So, even on Sunday their prices are crazy low, they work super fast and they're very nice. Not to mention you can kill time in the Golden Nugget across the street or the Cornerstone Cafe up the block. I hope you don't need Fernandez, but if you do you'll be glad you know where to go!

  • *****

After my driver's side window was smashed under mysterious circumstances, I found Fernandez on Yelp. Luckily they had a suitable Toyota Yaris window in stock and their price was literally half what another shop quoted. I dropped my car off near closing and picked it up the next day.

The new window has a generic brand stamp on it in place of the "Toyota" stamp the rest of my windows have, but otherwise it matches perfectly.

  • *****

This is exactly what any auto shop should be: fast, reliable, inexpensive, and honest. I called three other shops to replace the power window motor on my GMC Envoy and they quoted me close to 300 bucks. Fernandez's estimate: $100. The best part, when i paid the bill it was actually $100!! No hidden fees, nothing they 'forgot' to mention. Save time, money and frustration, go here.

  • *****

I drove around for ummm... almost a full year without a driver's side mirror - a little scary on 90/94. Not my fault entirely though. I was at work in a secured parking lot, and someone knocked my mirror clear off, wires and all, and left it on my car hood without a note :) My insurance deductible was too high to cover any of the replacement cost of the mirror. I had been told by other repair shops that it would cost about $300 to replace if I wanted to use the automatic control buttons for the mirror again.

Fernandez though hooked me up with a new mirror which was then painted to match my car. I was warned that it would look like it had been replaced though. Nope... can't tell I ever had it replaced. Looks awesome and works well! It took less than 2 hours to replace and cost only $130. Driving safely once again :)

Should you be so unlucky to own a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero and unlucky enough to have some fool bash your window to steal a cheap after-market radio, this is a good place to get the window fixed!

I called and they told me $70 over the phone for everything... Just come in, no appointment.

I feel like a bit of a cheater though... My "regular" auto mechanic actually quoted me $15 less ($55) installed, but he is an extra 15 minutes west and that extra 30 minutes was the difference between me getting it done that day or having to wait until I got back.

He said it'd be done in under an hour (my auto guy said 35 minutes, tops). It took about an hour and 15 minutes, but then again it wasn't the Dominos guarantee so that was fine I guess.

Do yourself a favor, no matter what the weather don't sit around and wait in their lobby. It's dull and depressing. And it was pouring down rain and their lobby was leaking water everywhere. I killed time by walking the 8 minute walk to the nearby PetSmart and Micro Center (Target, Panera, and a lot of other stuff is there too). Endless ways to kill time for an hour.

Really nice guys. I hope to never have to go back though!

Second unfortunate time I have had to use this establishment's service.
They cleaned out the broken glass and replaced the glass in less than an hour and a half (total time of me being in their shop). Waking up to a broken Car window is a very unsettling feeling but it is nice knowing that there is a place in the city that will get you in and out quickly.

They charged me just under a $100 and I was on my way. Thanks for an awesome job.

Its always fantastic to see your car window has been violated by some punk in the City of Chicago. Though I have been very fortunate to not own a car the majority of my living here, I have had myself quite the cultural shock of now owning a car in the city this short time now.

Its even more of a shock, when the day comes that your car has been broken into, that its on a solid downpour of rain. Waking up to the early morning of new years eve, I was in a panic, for not knowing what would be open today, and secondly, what could be affordable for my pocket book since I have the most basic plan on my insurance.

Thankfully Fernandez played superman to my poor violated vibe. Not only did it cost under $100 dollars, but they were in stock and could have it for me with in the hour!

The best part of driving away with a new glass window that will fool any flying bird- was the complimentary vacuuming and drying of the interior of my car

    Now that is service!

  • *****

Fernandez Auto is freakin awesome! My car was broken into on Thursday while I was at work and the worst part was the busted window. I was NOT looking forward to paying $$$$ to get it fixed. I took my car into Fernandez Auto on Sat morning. $74 TOTAL for everything. I don't think it gets much better than that. And they were professional and fast.

I read my Yelp reviews prior to going to Fernandez Auto Glass and figured I would give it a try. This past Saturday I called to find out if they could repair my driver side window as it is a power window and when rowed down it won't come back up...

They quoted me $75 is it was the Master Switch or $125 if it was the regulator. I asked if I could bring it right in and he said yes so I did just that... When I arrived I had to wait a moment for someone to guide me in as the entrance is really cluttered but once pulling in the guy remembered me and was ready to go. I also asked him to check out my windshield since it had what I thought was a scratch and he corrected me by telling me it was a crack.

I knew already he would have to replace the entire thing so I asked him for a estimate and he said he had a used one there and it would be about $175... I can do math so I knew I was looking at $300 at the most so I declined but after thinking about it I figured I would let the length of the repair determine it and he said two hours so I figured I could run over to City North and watch a movie while I wait...

Called me about a hour and a half later and it was ready to be picked up... When I got back there I had to wait about 10 minutes for the everyone to finish lunch and finally he came up and told me $250 which was a nice surprise... I paid and went to grab my car and that is when my biggest grief with this place happened... They all sat there while I struggled to find my keys and finally when asking again the game puts his hand over his head which to me indicated the keys were in the visor... They were not!

Finally after they did not hear my car start they came over and finally verbally indicated to me my keys were on the roof... Kind pissed me off a little bit that none of them could say this earlier but none the less the service was decent and the repair was nicely priced... If you do not speak Spanish expect some sort of language barrier since the guy who speaks English is speaking broken English... If you speak Spanish then you have a advantage I didn't have... Either way this should not deter you from taking advantage of great prices for solid work...

After my car was broken into, I was dreading the hassle of having to get my window replaced. They had a used replacement window in stock, and it was fast and cheap! I highly recommend it to anyone!

My windshield was smashed by some jackass (or jackasses) throwing chunks of concrete from the L platform by my building. I found Fernandez on yelp, gave them a call, and got an estimate on cost and time to replace the windshield. Took the car in the next day and they took care of everything just as they said over the phone: I needed no appointment, the work took about an hour and a half, and it cost me $155. Drove home in the rain and didn't notice any leaks. Will definitely go back to Fernandez the next time I need work like this done.

  • *****

My car has been broken into 3 times in the last 8 months. After having gone to Safelite the previous two times (and paying over $300), a friendly neighbor was asking where I was getting my window fixed and said he hoped it wasn't Safelite because they were so expensive. This got me thinking, maybe I should look elsewhere, especially if my car keeps getting broken into, I don't want to throw away $300! So I found Fernandez on Yelp and decided to give it a try.

They quoted me on a new window and a used window (both less than $100). They completed the work in about an hour and the window seals better than the Safelite repaired one did too. Highly recommended!

LIke another reviewer said, this is a new frills sort of place. But they get the job done, get it done well and get it done cheaply.

Firstly, I'd like to thank this review site which helped me to find a trustable window shop. My car window was smashed, and my GPS was stolen from my glove compartment at University of Chicago parking lot. That was a bad day, I rushed my 17months old boy to ER at 9:00am,and when I exhaustedly came out at 3:00pm, and found out this sucks.

Anyway, I called Ferandez on Sunday morning, and they asked me drive in, and took about one hour or so to have everything done. They found a used one for me, and cost me $87 in total.

    Good service! Thanks!

Probably the best experience I've had at a chicago garage. After my window was busted out and my jacket stolen out of my car, I put off getting my window fixed fearing a massive assault on my bank account. Eventually I had to get it fixed and took it to Fernandez. Not only was the window quick and cheap at $60 but the price included a car wash and vaccuum!!! What?!?! Service was excellent. price was extremely generous. take your car here.

The only reason this is a four-star review is because I don't have anything to compare Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair to. And I never will, as long as I live within several hours of Fernandez.

Our windshield was smashed in by a drunken vandal in the middle of the night. That Saturday, we laid a thick towel on the seat, donned sunglasses, and limped up Western Avenue to Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair.

A couple hours (after a fine meal at The Cornerstone Cafe a couple doors north) and $167 later, we drove off with a brand new windshield and a vacuumed car. The replaced our broken rear view mirror at no extra charge.

They are a very busy shop but handled everybody courteously and efficiently. We could not have been more pleased. There's no need to look any further. Fernandez will take care of you.

I called at 4.45pm on Saturday. He had a heavy accent, but I managed to relay my needs. Gave them my make and model, and which window was broken. He told me to hold on, 30 seconds later he said yes it would be $100 all up! for the rear driver side window on an Explorer. I asked him when he closed - 7pm and they don't accept cars after 6pm. I immediately went to the shop - easy to find, right off the 90/94. 5.15pm they had the car, it would take an hour, 6pm I was driving out of the shop. NO FRILLS waiting room but HEY - it's all about the cost of the glass! Close to TARGET if you want to run there and back in 45mins!! Great service at a low cost - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place, or go back if need be. Hopefully I won't be needing their service in the near future though!! You won't be disappointed choosing this place. FYI - I got an online estimate for someone to come out - the price was more than 4 times the price I paid! Worth the drive? I think so!

This place was referred to me after my windshield was cracked by falling glass (due to the storm) from a nearby building earlier this week. I called them today and they took my car in right away when I arrived. The price to replace the windshield was very reasonable. They are sure to get business from me again.

  • *****

The guy was nice and sorta fast. There were like 2 people ahead of me and got my windshield fixed for 110. Not bad!

  • *****

I read some of the reviews here and all if them are great reviews so I went a couple of months ago to get my window switch fixed. Thought they were gonna stiff me just like the other car shops but Fernandez auto glass repair shop not only they fixed my window in no time but also the manager explained to me what the problem was. The service was great! I am one satisfied customer I highly recommend to all my friends.

  • *****

I don't write reviews unless someone does something really great or really bad, in this case I have read most of the things said an said to myself "challenge accepted!".

Marched on down to this store after having my hood pop up an smash my windshield like something out of a marvel comic. Now bear in mind I had my mind set in half prepared for it all. The good, the bad, an the worst.

    But before that..

This issue of mine took place at 1am on a saturday, imagine my surprise yeah? Broken windshield + everything closed, who the $&@% would be open on a SUNDAY?!

    An so..

I forgot to bring cash, the mechanics most appreciated payment given I was tired having spent all night making sure where to go.

    The part you care about..

Tired, a debit card in hand, an a broken windshield @ 8:30am (a full 30 min before they should even be open, perhaps someone was working too hard an lost track of time? lol). I walk into this place one guy greets me, I give him the car data he needs, 10 min later he confims a brand new windshield is in his stock.

Whats the damage I ask, $157 he estimates like he has a good idea of the price, pointing out it might be a little less. I gave him the keys an said make it happen.

One hour later if not less, glass replaced! Offered a impressive side offer to replace the side mirrors (broken by a stranger in the night). I regretfully had to turn it down (about $60-ish per side after labor!).

Told him I had a hood to replace but I'd be back. An I will return without a doubt. It rained all day today after the repair an not a single leak or issue so far.

Final price $155, didn't get a ticket on my way here, he preserved the city sticker almost as was. An finally he even wired down the hood for free to keep it from poping up as I continue to wait for monday to repair it.

In the end its a long review but MY final word is this; your an idiot not to go here, if you listen to the negative reviews you'll lose out!

PS: No broken glass shards anywhere inside. An he gave me a referal to a shop for the hood just down the street. I wanna see another prepy reviewer try to say some more trash talk about this place hah!

first I have to tell you my story.... I was moving an ex and put a desk in my hatchback... I didnt notice how much the leg was sticking it out and I slammed my trunk.... needless to say... the rear glass went everywhere... I thought it would cost a fortune to fix, but they quoted me only $250, which is more than fair

went to this place based on reviews and recommendations.... was kind of weird when I got there. They were all eating pizza and not working.... took them a while to get it done, but they did a fairly good job of getting all the glass out and the window looks origional

  • *****

Some jackass thought it would be a great idea and break my passenger side window to get to my workbag this past Thursday night.
I shopped around on a few websites to see who does good work and these guys popped up. I called and they quoted me around $75 or so. I drove my broken window vehicle over and rolled inside. All of the guys seemed to be on lunch at 2PM which I found interesting.

Once they got to me vehicle, the damn thang got did within 45 mins as they also vaccumed the glass out of my car. Hopefully I wont have broken window issues again anytime soon, but if I do this will be my go to spot.

  • *****

Rock hit my windshield and had to replace the entire thing. Other estimates came in around $350. Fernandez quoted $200-250 site unseen. No appointment was needed. When I drove in, they remembered me, quoted same price, said the work would be done within two hours and it was. Good work, good service, good price.

After a POS low life in the city broke into my car, in a "secured garage of all places", I needed to get my window fixed ASAP with another windy city winter upon us. My landlord recommended this place and again she didn't steer me wrong.

I called and got a quote over the phone, they had the replacement for my window and said to come in right away and they could fix it.

They were open on a Sunday which was great! I did have to wait around an hour till one of the mechanics started working on my car, but in their defense they were super busy, working on around 6 cars at a time with 3 guys, but moving cars in and out fast.

The mechanic literally started and completed my car in 20 minutes! While being extremely detailed and thorough with every aspect, including the cleaning of the broken glass both inside the door panel and my entire front and back seat, even though only the front window was broken.

Overall great experience and I would highly recommend going here if you have your window broken. Although I pray I never need to go through that awful experience ever again... If it does, I know where I will be going.

  • *****

This place is awesome! I recommend it to anyone who needs a fast, courteous, inexpensive auto glass repair job! They replaced my cracked wind shield in a matter of an hour and a half and for much less than the competitor's quote! I will use them again most definitely! I walked to Golden Nugget for a late lunch just a few steps away while they worked on my car. LUV LUV LUV this place!

  • *****

$98.00 for a great repair of the passenger side glass in our Saab 95.
    Very professional service.
'Would definitely go back - hope we don't have to!!
We had a break in at our building complex garage on NYE.

  • *****

This place is great. We've had two car break-ins and they've been able to service us right away both times. Price-wise this place is one of the best deals out there.

Let me start by saying that I know nothing about car maintenance, and I DREAD having to get any work at all done on my car - it's completely foreign territory, and I'm always sure that I'm being ripped off. Enter Fernandez, my auto repair godsend.

    I've used Fernandez twice:

First, I awoke to find my back window smashed in. On a Sunday. In the dead of winter. It was snowing. Of course, no one was open, and I needed to drive to Wisconsin that very day. Fernandez was a shining beacon of sanity and hope in my otherwise anxiety-wrought morning. I had a brand new window in less than 2 hours, and I got out of there for less than $150 including tax and labor.

Second, my sideview mirror was ripped off and crunched into pieces under my car. After my first life-saving experience with Fernandez, I called them right away. They had the model I needed on hand, but it was the wrong color. Did I still want it? Yes. My piece-of-crap car is not a vanity piece, and I was expecting to end up with a mismatched mirror. They installed the new (used) mirror and painted it to match. Miraculously, you'd never know the difference! Again, they took me right away, and the whole ordeal - from the time I discovered the smashed mirror to the time I was back home with a new one - was less than 2 hours.

I absolutely cannot recommend them enough.

"Window was smashed and GPS stolen at 10am on a Saturday. By the time our car alarm went off and we realized it was ours, the guy was long gone. My husband called this place and they told us to bring it on in and they quoted us a fair price. He was home by 12:30! Window fixed and all the broken glass cleaned up! We couldn't believe it. We were expecting an all day ordeal but instead we got to enjoy the rest of the day. Highly recommended."

Above is my review of this place in May 2010 and below is what happened to me today....

When I tried to roll my window down, it was frozen shut. I thought I had held the button long enough for it to go back but it was hard to tell, and well, I guess I didn't. This is not the first time. I did the same thing almost 3 years ago. When this happens, the window comes off the rails and falls into the door. Last time, my husband looked it up on line how to fix it and fixed it himself. This time, we really didn't have the time for all that so we are willing to pay to have it fixed.
I took it to my nearest mechanic, one I might add comes highly recommended by several people I work with... He tells me it will be $250 to replace the motor and yadda yadda yadda..... I walked out and called Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair. After I explained what happened, the guy who answered the phone said... "So, what kind of car is it a Jetta?" He knew before I told him or before I said who I was!! He said it was a common problem in the winter with my type of car and to bring it on in. I asked how much and he said $60. He did not try to sell me a new motor and he knew exactly what the problem was! I am now a loyal fan of this place.

  • *****

All i got to say is these guys rock!!!!! I went with a car I just bought that had a couple of cracks on the windshield. The cracks were small (less then quarter size) I went to Majestic Glass (rip offs) and this guy told me it could not be fixed that I needed a new $325 windshield, needless to say I left......I called Fernandez and told them what I had they quoted me a great price to refill the cracks when I got there he checked the windshield and told me that they had already been filled. I thanked him for his honesty, needless to say this guy has earned my business in the future!!!Honesty does pay....

  • *****

great, affordable, fast service. he removed tint from my windows--- i got there without an appt, only took about 30 minutes (there were other people there) and charged me only 40 bucks for two windows. can't beat that

  • *****

Fernandez has helped me with a wide variety of services, esp. replacing a broken-into steering column for less than half of a quoted price, they have helped me with problem power doors and windows on my old chevy van, and power window motor and a door handle for a 95 civic. FAST friendly well-stocked and affordable, and they back up their work. A Chicago Legend. Thanks!! Give em a call, they can probably help.

  • *****

My car was broken into early this morning and needed to replace my window. A friend recommended that I call Fernandez. The guy on the phone was helpful and gave me a good price for the window replacement. Within an hour after I got there, I had a new window. Service was fast. It sucks to have your car broken into, but Fernandez was able to fix things up fast and not put a dent in my wallet. Thanks Fernandez!

  • *****

This place is as good as it gets. Brought my Camry in for a windshield repair and they offered me a used glass for $100 or brand new for $100 installed. Took them about 2 hours to complete the job. I didn't even have to make an appointment, just show up and they went to work. Friendly, knowledgeable, and easy on the wallet.

  • *****

Got a Christmas deal to cheer me up after my car was vandalized and work bag stolen last night. Shop was quick and efficient. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Thanks Yelpers!

  • *****

Great place to go for window repair on your car. Would have given them 5 stars but my car was ready for 30 mins and I had to wait while they all ate lunch at the same time. Never been anywhere that everyone takes lunch at the same time. Why not alternate that way customers could still get full service. All in all a great place and very affordable.

  • *****

Their estimate was accurate and they were very efficient. Told us it would take an hour and a half to repair our rear passenger side window which had fallen down into the door. They were done in an hour.

  • *****

Highly recommend these guys. My drivers side power window stopped working. In under 60 minutes, they had the regulator fixed. Toyota would charge me $500 for OEM parts and labor. Fernandez charged me $129 total -- in and out in under an hour.

  • *****

This place is awesome! Always worried about getting screwed over when it has anything to do with cars or mechanics. My power window stopped working and it was left almost half way down so I needed it done asap. I figured it was the either the regulator or motor that needed fixed, called around and got a quote from various places. This place definitely gave me the best price, and also had my cars motor in stock. They told me $125 and it'd take about an hour. I show up early the next morning and they had me wait in the their waiting room while they worked on my car. The whole time I'm expecting either a different quote when the work was complete, or having all of the other three windows stop working too. The guy comes back in about 40 minutes and tells me that it wasn't the motor. (In my head I'm thinking, great here we go!) So then he tells me that it was just the connection and only charged me $35!!! How's that for honesty! He couldve just connected it, charged me $125 and I would've been none the wiser. God is good! Go to this place for sure!

  • *****

My front driver's side power window regulator stopped working. I called Fernandez's and let them know what the problem was. They told me if i could get my car there in the next 30 minutes they could fix it. I got there just in time as the day was almost over. They fixed my window just before closing on the spot in 30 minutes without notice or appointment, and it only cost $95! Truly amazing. I highly recommend them!

  • *****

Nothing worse then walking up to your car on a Monday morning to discover some a-hole broke into it. Left me with the fun task of getting my window replaced. This was the first time something like this had ever happened to me so I was beyond worried I would have to pay an arm and a leg to have my window replaced. Fernandez was the first and only place I needed to call; super polite on the phone and quoted me $60 to replace my back driver side window after asking for the year and make. I brought it in that day, waited maybe an hour and before I know it I was paying and on my merry little way.

I can not say thank you enough to this place for existing and saving my butt.

  • *****

My car was broken into and I was left without a back passenger window, so I called up the shop and I was given a quote over the phone that made me rush to the shop. When I got there I was greeted with "we were on the phone earlier right? It'll take me an hour or less to get this glass in" & I was there for EXACTLY an hour. I always thought broken windows would be such an issue but the Fernandez Glass repair shop literally got rid of my headache in such a short period of time. HIGHLY recommend and being that this is Chicago and smash and grabs happen everyday, I will tell my friends all about this shop! Best of the best! Thanks guys!

  • *****

So being an idiot I knocked the rear view mirror off the windshield chipping the glass. I went to another Auto glass shop and they quoted me $410 for a used windshield, and $600 for a Chrysler windshield. So I tried Fernandez and they Quoted me $210 for a used windshield that was in great condition. I came in and they installed the window in my 300 in a hour and a half.

Definitely recommend this place to anyone needing glass work done.

  • *****

Great service! I went in to get a window and door handle replaced and was out within an hour! Fast Service and reasonably priced!

  • *****

Sam and his coworker were professional, hospitable, and expedient. They replaced two windows in my Envoy XL today and I don't think I waited a full hour until I got my keys back a rolled out. These guys were fast and cleaned much of the broken glass in my vehicle. Oh, and they charged me less than half of what other shops wanted. Fernandez Auto Glass and Repair is definitely good-to-go! I would have given a full five stars, but they could have vacuumed a bit more, so I'm giving the shop 4.5 stars. Still, they are worth it!

The part of the day where I discovered that some dickbag had my driver's side window for fun was redeemed by the part where a woman jogging got halfway down the block past me, looked back, hesitated, and then ran back and told me to go to Fernandez for the repair. Which was $75 and took a half hour. THANK YOU, KIND LADY.

  • *****

Quick and straight to the point upon entrance. $95.12 for a 2014 Civic front passenger window replacement, and even cleaned up the rest of the glass that was left in the car from a crook breaking in. Wonderful quality and fast work!

  • *****

    Great service and efficient

  • *****

Done magic. Went with a half inch crack, came out with a barely visible dot for only $50. Amazing.

  • *****

5 stars for shizzle. I called to get a quote and told him I was calling a few others place to compare. Everywhere else I called was almost twice as much. When I called back he said he had already ordered the window for my car. Dropped it off the following morning and it was done in an hour! Recommend for sure!

  • *****

My experience is the same as everyone else's....terrific! I saved over $100 on a replacement windshield for my SUV ($175) service was fast and easy. I dropped my car off at 8:30 and was on the road again, driving my car before 10am. Couldn't recommend them enough!

  • *****

To add to the pile of 5-star reviews and car break-in stories:

Someone smashed the left rear window of my car to grab the blanket I had sitting on the back seat. I called the trusty Ashland Tire & Auto, which referred me to this place. $60 for a quick repair of the window, and they did a good job cleaning off the shattered glass from the back seat. Damen Auto Repair (which I've never been to but have heard good things about) had quoted me $100+.

  • *****

Great friendly service! Professional and clean and they even have a waiting room cat!

  • *****

Got quote from Safelite to come out and replace rear door window on 2007 Toyota Prius. The quote was $218.95. There were no appointments available right away, so I checked Yelp reviews for Auto Glass Repair. Saw Fernandez's rating and location, and gave them a call. They gave me a quote for $75 and said to bring it on in. I did and drove away in less than an hour for $78.08 including tax. Convenience of Safelite not worth $140 to me, and Fernandez was curteous and professional and did a great job.

  • *****

Twice I have had my windows broken and my car robbed. Both times Fernandez did a very good job replacing the glass. They are extremely reasonable and fast. Work was high quality and they clearly communicated the price and timeline and did not deviate. This is much less expensive than calling someone like safelight or taking it to the dealer and the quality is OEM from my experience. Don't think there is any reason to go anywhere else when your windows are broken.

  • *****

Quick, professional, fair price. I popped in on a Sunday morning and was able to get my windshield replaced for $185 and in one hour. I've already recommended them to friends.

Got my car broken into and someone suggested this place. I got great service and a great deal on the window when other places quoted me over $350. They were also pretty fast because when I walked in to the front office there were a lot of people. Great place! I recommend out if you are in a window jam!

  • *****

Fast, fair, friendly. One hour and $95 later I had a new, fully functional side mirror installed. Definitely would recommend them. They have lots of parts on site.

I was such an emotional wreck to have found my new vehicle on New years Day with my drivers side mirror broken and the door dented in...these guys were open at 8:30am he not only fixed my window but undented the side door at no charge - i could not hold my emotions back, they are truely great men at heart and just so damn reliable & affordable! XOXO to them guys!

Great service, reasonable pricing, very nice staff!!!! Super pleased with my experience. Windshield replacement with new glass was $160, passengers side front window replacement with new glass was $125...$306 total after tax. They vacuumed out my car and even reset my mirror for me :)

A crack appeared across my entire windshield on Friday, the weekend before Christmas with snow and subzero temperatures forecast. I absolutely dreaded calling around getting quotes and prayed that I not only could find a place that had my windshield in stock but could also get it repaired the very next day. Then I remembered this place that I had used many years ago and WOW am I glad that I did. The next morning I called and got a quote for $130 for a used replacement. Dropped it off at 12:30 PM and by 2:30 PM same day my windshield was installed and I happily drove off. Just like I was quoted over the phone it cost me $130 plus tax. What's really nice is that there's a theater just across the street and you can go watch a movie while your car is being repaired. I just wish I could've given the movie five stars too, but at least I got a nap in.

  • *****

I shattered my back window to my Jeep Liberty late on a Sunday night. I called them at 8:30am on Monday morning and they told me to bring it in around 9am. I brought it in, it was replaced in an hour and only $130. Everywhere else I called couldn't get it done until later in the day or even the next day and quotes were $300. So quick and easy and the guys are super nice. HIGHLY recommended.

  • *****

My rear windshield got busted after the Cubs won the World Series, unfortunately. I called a few places that were asking for $250+ claiming they had the most competitive prices in Chicago. Called Fernandez, got a quote for $130, brought my car in and it was done in an hour and a half. Great service, great quality, and great pricing!

  • *****

Quick reasonably priced service if you need glass replacement or repairs to anything involving auto doors, locks, power window problems.

  • *****

Friendly, good costumer service, great price. They fixed my window and my door

  • *****

I had a small chip in my windshield I needed to get fixed and found this place on Yelp. I made an appointment during my lunch break. The repair took about 20 minutes and cost $68. Bill was super quick and friendly. He even told me that my insurance company would reimburse me without it affecting my rates (I got my $68 back within 10 days from my insurance company!). Definitely will be back here for any future auto glass related needs.

  • *****

They were great! Went out to my car and the window had been smashed in, called Fernandez at 10:30, dropped the car off at 11, picked it up at 4. The window works great and the car was completely cleaned out. His rates are the best in town. Would recommend to any one who will listen.

  • *****

Called in to see if they had a regulator for my window 06 VW Jetta to trade in the same day & they had it for a reasonable price. Done in one hour for $140 & they had it in stock!!! Thanks a bunch.

  • *****

This is a great place if you have a broken window or a bad motor for the window. They give you a great price but the place is very outdated especially the office area where the customers wait.

  • *****

These guys are amazing. I wasn't able to go to my normal place because they were backed up so they recommended that I take my car here. My windshield wipers stopped working, I already looked it up and had an idea of what it should cost and how long it should take. They gave me a great quote and were able to fix it in an hour and a half, that same day. I will definitely be coming back here for future repairs. Thank you so much!!!

  • *****

My sunroof and sunshade became mis-aligned, and I was turned away by my normal mechanic and a body shop--neither of which wanted to fix it. I found Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair here on Yelp, and took a chance dropping it off around 6pm, assuming they'd get to it the next day. They took me in right away and fixed the issue within 45 minutes for just $25! I was very pleased with the speed and quality of work.

    Things to be aware of:
Western is currently under construction, and traffic going north is bad. If you come from the south, it's must easier to pull in. When you arrive, you can drive your car directly into the shop, so you don't need to park it on the street unless they cannot see you that day. The waiting room was pretty dirty, and there's a sad looking shop cat wandering around who might try to get into your stuff.

  • *****

    Great service. Very affordable service

They did an amazing job on my windshield. Since I called early in the day, they where able to take care of me right when I walked in. They honored the price they quoted me over the phone. They had the best price in the entire city.

This place is great! Like everyone else has said, get there early if you're in a rush as they don't take appointments (they open at 8:30am, contrary to what their website says). Work is quick, guys are nice, price is cheap, job is good. What more do you need?

Fernandez was wonderful! I cracked my windshield on my way to work today and he fixed it well quickly and for an affordable price. I highly recommend him!

Fantastic place beat safe lite price. Friendly and fast service. Have lots of other parts besides just glass. Would come here again no questions asked.

Im a ride share driver and needed my car back quick. Back windshield broke from a storm, called up 2 other places and said it would take 2 days. Then I called Fernandez auto and they did it in a few hours for cheap! They have excellent service and are really cool guys! They even saved my airport sticker which I thought I would lose because it was covered in broken glass. Definitely going back!

  • *****

I was referred here by Harry at Damen Auto Body. They fixed a broken window right away for way less than I had expected. Would definitely go back!

  • *****

I am so happy I went on Yelp and discovered this place! The night before someone decided to break my driver side window. In the morning I tried calling several places but no one was able to take me in right away. I decided to drive to Fernandez without calling or having an appointment. Not only did they take me in right away, their price was very cheap compared to other places. Thank you so much for the great customer service!

  • *****

$75 for a complete window replacement in 3.5 hours? These guys were quick and courteous. Highly recommended!

Found this place on Yelp after a rock caused a dime-sized chip in my windshield. He looked at it for a second, told me it was $50 and that it needed to set for an hour. Great, efficient service!

Not sure how hidden of a gem this place is any more since they're always busy and their phone is always ringing, but this truly is one of my favorite businesses in Chicago. And it's hands down one of the best auto-related businesses I've ever been to, anywhere. These guys are nice, fast, professional and do amazing, very reasonably priced work. They also can fix most things the day you bring it to them. They've gone above and beyond for me a couple times now. They've fixed two windshields for me and most recently replaced a sideview mirror for me, with a price that was 50% lower than anyone else. And the replacement mirror looks brand new. Hands down, if you have a glass, mirror, door issue on your car, take it here- they are they best in town.

Loved this place! My bmw window was broken over the weekend & I was expecting it to be so expensive to fix, but to my surprise it was so affordable! I spent 80 on my passenger's window! Also they were able to fix it the same day I called, they did tell me an hour but ended up being like 3 hours (which is why I didn't rate it 5 stars) but they do get really busy so take that into consideration & they did a great job! They cleaned the glass out from the inside of my car!

  • *****

Took a cobalt and got it done here for a low lowwwww price now another car I got got a cracked windshield so I'll be stopping by again because no doubt it's the best and don't care about the drive there from wis. Because with t he money I save I can Rome chicago

Victim #1739372726283 to Chicago auto smash and grab here. :/. There was a gaping hole where my rear passenger window used to be. Spent my day off calling around to get different quotes for Windows. Fernandez' quote was 50% less than Safelite. Read the stellar reviews on Yelp and decided to go with it.

Trekked 20 miles to the city to replace the window. Place was busy! The workers are really nice. Waited in the waiting room with a book. Could have walked over to the theater or the shopping center but decided to just wait. Took about 2 hours.

Car was fixed and I was back on the road! They do use a third party window. Tint matches the other window and everything. Only slight issue I had was a vibrating noise from the glass when I'm driving over 50 mph. I called up and they told me to come in for them to take a look at it and adjust as necessary. Once that's resolved I would bump up this review to 5 stars - easy!

I visited earlier this year when I noticed my windshield was developing a crack. I was going to first contact one of the chain places, but instead I decided to look up high rated places in the Logan Square area on Yelp. This place had so many positive reviews, that I knew I had to give this place a chance.

I arrived within an hour of their opening on a Saturday morning so that I could hopefully avoid a crowd. I pulled in the garage, and after the manager examined my windshield he told me that the whole windshield could be replaced for $125. I thought this was a pretty reasonable price, so I left my car with him. I went to my gym around the corner and in less than 2 hours my car was finished. I came back to line of cars out into the street, so I definitely came at a good time. I was driving to Naperville later that evening on the highway , so the manager advised me to not drive over 70mph for a day or so. Overall, I would say I had a great experience and would recommend this place to anyone in need of new glass on their car.

Hoodlums smashed out my back window in front of my house in logan square for fun. I called progressive who suggested safelight for $340. Needless to say I was beyond upset. Found this place and I got the back window replaced for $146. It was used glass but turned out perfect. Cleaned up all the broken glass for me too.

  • *****

Cracked my windshield on the highway, came here and got a new windshield in about 90 minutes and less than $200. Couldn't be happier!

  • *****

This was a wonderful experience. I went there to get my side mirror fix on my Malibu. They found one the color of my car, it wasn't the original color but I'm happy with it. I was charged less than $70.00 for it. It was fixed quick, nice guys. Highly recommend.

  • *****

This place is the bomb my friend told me about it as my eletric window motor went out in winter and couldn't close the window all the way and my electric mirror broke banging into my garage they fixed everything within an hour while I had breakfast at the corner restaurant.
I woke up on a Sunday to see that someone broke my daughters back window so I called Fernandez again and took to them that Sunday and in about 1-1/2 hours went and picked the car up and only a $100.00 and they cleaned all the glass out from inside the back seat.

  • *****

absolutely AMAZING service. my car window was broken into the night before. i took it in, fixed it in less than 1.5 hours, and it was only $78. my window is in perfectly working condition again. highly recommend this place!

  • *****

I was quoted $270 and $370 by Gerber and Safelite respectively for replacing my windshield. I paid $170 at Fernandez. It took a little over an hour and the customer service was friendly.

  • *****

Love these guys. Had two different car windows replaced here four years apart. Super fast, good value, everything I needed in glass replacement. Would recommend to all my friends. And they vacuumed the big chunks of glass out. Didn't even know they would do that! Saved my day, you guys.

  • *****

Great service and price. I trusted them based on Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. It takes about 2 hours and they are kind and efficient.

  • *****

I just returned from having Fernadez Auto replace my 2011 Honda Insight windshield. They were able to give me a quote on the phone that was over $100 less than the cost quoted by my Esurance Safelite "special discount" program. I had read the reviews on Yelp and they seems great. I told them when I was doing and they had the windshield waiting. It took less than 2 hours to replace and it looks good as new. It is raining out, so I was able to see that the windshield is holding the water out, there is no noise from it, and the wipers work fine. The owner was great to talk to and work with. Highly recommend.

  • *****

No BS: ~75% CHEAPER than Safelite.

My passenger side window was busted out last Spring (2015). Since insurance didn't cover, I was looking at paying out of pocket. I was about to bite the bullet on the $270 that Safelight quoted me, until I heard that Fernandez would do it for $70. Highly skeptical, I saw the wildly high Yelp reviews and gave him a call. Sure enough, I went in later that day and had myself a new window, authentic with all the original sticklers, etc. my previous window had. You can't beat this deal.

As is the common tale here, I discovered last night that my car had been broken into and my passenger window shattered. I googled what to do and this came up at the top of the hits. So, this morning I called and Fernandez gave me the estimate and off I went. It cost about $142 to fix the window in my 2012 Ford Focus and took about an hour and a half.
Fernandez was polite and helpful despite the phone ringing off the hook (sign of good business!)
Hopefully this never happens again, but if it does I'll know where to go!

  • *****

Like many other reviewers, I went out to my car this morning to find my car had been broken into. I called Fernandez based on the all of the positive reviews...and I am SO glad I did. They quoted me $75 to replace my rear passenger window and said they had it in stock. I immediately took my car in. In just about 1 and 1/2 hours they had fixed the window and cleaned all of the broken glass out of my car! Parts labor and cleaning the glass for a total (with tax) of $78. Unbelievable. They were polite, honest, and the window looks great. I hope I don't have to go through this again, but if I ever do I am coming back to Fernandez. I wish all bad experiences could end as well as this one did, considering the circumstances. Thank you so much for your work!

You will will have to overlook the non-trendy shop. This is a professional repair shop. They repaired my Audi windshield using the preferred OEM glass that I requested and did a perfect job. They told me two hours to complete so I walked across the street, watched a movie and returned to find everything completed.

    I'll use them again.

  • *****

Power window passenger rear wouldn't roll up. Called Fernandez & they quickly quoted me over the phone. They checked to make sure they had part in stock & said they could do the work same day in about an hour or so. Went there & they completed work as promised. Reasonably priced & professional.

So my SUV was broken into (passenger side, front window glass smashed) on the coldest day of this winter. So obviously, I was in a hurry to get the glass fixed. I called around several car repair shops in the area with estimates and repair times in my area.
These were the rates and times

Toyota dealership 420 dollars; drop off in the morning with no assurance it would be delivered next day.

Leo's on ridge and Clark 369 dollars. Tentative time frame two days later.

Safelite glass 238 dollars plus disposal fee plus taxes
    Earliest end of next day.

AB marathon on Ashland and Brynmawr 225 dollars, drop off the car today, they would try to get the car fixed by the end of next day.

I could not afford to be without a car or drive around with a broken window to work 17 miles away in a frigid Chicago weather.

I called Fernandez auto glass repair just on a hunch as the shop is not even in my area.
A mere two hours and 78 dollars later, I have my car fixed!!!!!
    Hats off to Fernandez!!

  • *****

This place is awesome I own a 03 Ford Explorer that had a left quarter panel window that looked like it was broken with a pellet gun. While other places charged me 500 to 800 to replace Fernandez auto glass did it for 85 and they vacuumed the broken glass inside the truck which they did not have to do but went above and beyond to do so. I recommend people to really check this place out was in and out within an hour good place.

  • *****

They were very friendly, got the mirror replaced in a few hours, and I think they gave us a fair price.

  • *****

Being experienced Auto Mechanic (but working in another Profession for many years), I heard repeated referrals to get any Automotive glass repair done here. After multiple experiences here, plus happy feedback from my referrals, this place does Quality work at the Best price around (for experienced Professionals). Even "saved" old Windshield stickers, applying them just as on old, cracked Windshield! I'm amazed at the parts Inventory they quickly access. If you want real skill & can forego irrelevant "pretty" waiting room, THIS is the smart choice!

  • *****

Fernando's came through same day request at a great price and wonderful service! I woke up to find my passenger window shattered, Fernando's wasn't the closest repair shop, but it was definitely worth the extra mile drive to know my car was in good hands. I've passed this shop a million of times and it's great to know I now have a window guy. He replaced the window with actual Honda parts and to top off the visit, his team cleaned up all the shattered glass on my dashboard and passenger side. All done in under an hour at the end of the day. I couldn't have asked for a nicer end to a horrible morning.

  • *****

The shop was busy and yet still managed to take care of everyone in a timely fashion, the parts are well stocked and my windshield was installed quickly and very pleased with the overall experience! Prices are reasonable for out-of-pocket service, would definitely go back for any window or mirror repair in the future. I seriously can't see why someone would post a negative review, this place is no frills and probably could use a front desk person. But not complaining, service and value for the repair was where it should be!

  • *****

My window was broken due to a break in. They took care of it the same day, within a couple of hours, were very reasonably priced and extremely nice and courteous. Highly recommended!

  • *****

Always been my go to place for any auto glass related needs. Appreciate that they are open till 7pm so you can swing by after work.

I can't say enough about this establishment! My car was broken into by some derelicts the other night & when I discovered it, I was in an utter panic. I called Fernandez at 10 a.m. and unfortunately they didn't have my window in stock...but they could get it in stock by 2 p.m.! They promptly called me upon its arrival, I stuck around for an hour, and came back to my car cleaned of all shattered glass as well. This place is the epitome of professionalism.

Nothing worse then walking up to your car on a Monday morning to discover some a-hole broken into it.

If your car window is broken go to this place my window was broken by a drunk in looser friend and I was furious to find out the next day they wanted over 240 luckily I called Hernandez auto glass and they told me 85 what a relief not only was the price amazing but they had me in and out and cleaned all the glass in the vehicle thanks Hernandez auto glass and anyone with a broken window go to these guys trust

  • *****

    What a great place. Seriously.

My car was broken into and my passenger window was shattered. It was a horrible experience. Fernandez glass was so helpful, kind, quick and efficient that they made a bad moment bearable. I honestly felt better walking out of there. They quoted me a good price and honored it. I was out earlier than an hour and they cleaned up the glass! I'll say it again, they cleaned up the mess of glass that was on the floor of my car! That wasn't their job. Thank you guys so much. I appreciate your hard work.

  • *****

Well done and the price is much better than quoted by two other places in the area!

  • *****

Quick, affordable, and friendly. Made me feel slightly better after having my car broken into. They even vacuumed out the broken glass!

Quick, cheap, and friendly. Made me feel slightly better dealing with these guys after having my car broken into last night. They even vacuumed out the broken glass! Highly recommend.

  • *****

My car was broken into recently and the first place I called was here. They quoted me $110 for a 2012 VW Jetta front passenger window (other places were upwards of $300!!!) The entire appointment took about an hour and a half and they were true to their quote. Window looks great and haven't had a problem. They also vacuumed out the entire car and made sure all of the excess glass was cleaned up. Good quality work!

  • *****

The power window on the driver's door of my 2008 Hyundai Sonata stopped operating. I took it to the local Hyundai dealer and asked for an estimate on the repair. They said between $400 and $800 depending on what was wrong. My jaw hit the ground. I found Fernandez on the internet. The quote was $140. Took it there. Need I say more!

  • *****

Great place! Someone had busted my passenger side window on my '99 Lexus GS300 overnight and I needed my window fixed ASAP so that I could go to work! Gave them a call and was informed they could have it done right away and it would only be $80. Took it over, walked across the street to eat, and when I came back it was done! They even cleaned up every single piece of glass that was around and under my seat. I definitely recommend this place.

  • *****

Fast, friendly, and affordable. Only $75 to replace my back window after it had been broken into the night before. Was replaced within an hour and a half. Just the kind of service you need after you've been robbed the previous night.

  • *****

Called to see if they could fix a broken window and within 2 hours of the initial phone call, I was driving home with a brand new window. Very inexpensive. Almost 1/5th of the price other glass replacement companies wanted and they could install it the same day. Very impressed with services I received. Highly recommend this business if you're looking for a fair deal and professional service.

  • *****

Fantastic! I called to ask about a window repair, and after a short description of the problem. He put me on hold... I thought Oh Boy. When he came back on the line... he had checked to see if they had the suspected part in stock! And they did! The next day my wife took our vehicle over, and waited. The repair was done in about an hour while she waited, and about $350 LESS than dealer estimate. Any time we ever need window glass, or repairs Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair will be the first and only call. - Oh yea... they have a cat mascot in the shop!

  • *****

I called on a Friday to get see if they had the driver side mirror I needed and get a quote. I went in the next morning and the man (wish I had his name) remembered talking to me and they started working on my car right away. A little over an hour later and I was on my way and at he price I was quoted.
Word of advice though, go early. Several people brought cars in the hour I was there. Price and service make this a popular repair shop.

  • *****

    Fast. Cheap. And easy. :)

My car window was busted out on a Wed eve, I called my go-to auto shop (Ashland Auto), they told me to go to these guys, as they even bring their own cars there. Coincidentally some kind passers-by at the scene had mentioned them as well. I called them, quoted me 75 bucks for my 2008 Prius front passenger window (and charged me, 75 bucks - neat :)). Brought it straight in at 10am on a Thurs morning, they said about an hour, called me exactly an hour later. Done.

I can't tell you, just how grateful I am for such a smooth, pleasant, and relatively cheap!, experience like this, the morning after being so totally violated (not to mention the $1800 worth of stuff they stolen).

    Can't recommend them more strongly.

  • *****

My window would not roll down from the drivers side. I thought it would take arm and a leg to replace whatever the problem was. Someone suggested that I bring it here. I came right when it opened and they told me what the problem was (master switch) and charged me only $75 for labor and part. And it was all done in 2 hrs. I will definitely come back.

  • *****

Best experience i ever had going to a car shop. Waiting room was ok, but the service was excellent. I had a bad cracked windshield so i requested a quote. I had a great price for a used one witch looks like brand new. They finished in 1 hr and the got the city sticker back(saves about 10 dlls) and they also replaced my rear view mirror for free. I was pleasant amaze about the whole experience and i only had to pay 110 dlls for my 2001 ford focus. the location is convenient, just 3 blocks off the highway. So i would defenetley recommend Fernandez auto. Thank you

I use to park my car (2006 Hyundai Sonata) in the heated basement of a building where I use to live. I recently moved and now have to park on the street. I went to my car yesterday and found that some low life scum from the Netherworld had shattered the passenger side front window. The Glove Compartment was opened, and every useless thing in there was out. Nothing was stolen, because I keep nothing valuable in my car. I searched the internet and found numerous places offering to replace the window for various prices. I found Fernandez Auto Glass and discovered that the location was near my old job (CUB FOODS). I called them to book an appointment and couldn't believe the price I was quoted. I actually had to call back to make sure that the price I was quoted wasn't just for labor. They confirmed that the price was for the replaced glass (they supplied) and the cost of labor. I went there after work, was told the wait will be about an hour, but it was actually about 45 minutes. SUPER JOB!

    SMASH AND GRAB REPAIR

Great, great place. Someone smashed my car window in broad daylight at halsted and division.

Brought my car to this place at the start of the business day and drove away 1.5 hrs later set. Just $90.

Waiting room is ok, bring a book or ipad. The place isn't fancy, just good work at a good price, what I was looking for....

Extra nice touch. My car is a Honda CR-V and the window replaced was the rear passenger side. Only when I got home did it occur to me to check to see if the window was tinted like the one that was smashed. It was.

Good work at great prices. Friendly and honest. These guys are level 9 junkyard wizards. The inside is packed to the gills with scavenged parts. If they don't have it in their extensive collection, they can find it.

Good work at great prices! These guys replaced the sunroof track on my Passat, which is a notoriously expensive part from VW. Needless to say, they tracked down the part at a fraction of the cost through their junkyard wizardry. A second sunroof related problem did develop about a week after their work, which concerned me, but they fixed it at no additional charge. Good guys!

I read the 5 previous reviews and thought I would give these guys a shot. My car got broke into through passenger window the night previous. These guys had it fixed within an hour. I got two quotes prior to calling Fernandez. Fernandez quoted half the price of the previous two, and then came in $20 dollars cheaper than they quoted! Also, they were very friendly. Only down side is that there is broken glass in a few areas, and I was wearing flip flops. That's probably my lack of common sense going to a glass repair shop in sandals however. It's probably impossible to keep up w/ sweeping it aside when they have cars with broken windows continually coming in.

Just had my passenger window replaced after a nasty accident and these guys were amazing. Quoted me $110 less than Safelite Autoglass, and I feel like my windows go up and down faster. They were in and out in under an hour. I highly recommend them for your auto glass needs!

Smashed windows suck, there's no doubt, but this place... can't say enough. Great staff, reasonable price, cafe, gym, target just around the corner, service done in under an hour. My tires were filled, the glass vacuumed, was even given a few referrals for another need. Go!

  • *****

Recently had a windshield replaced... Highly recommend this place because it is cheap and fast. It only took an hour and there was plenty of of stuff to do within walking distance to keep busy while they did repairs. Only recommendation is that they need to sweep up the garage floor more often because there is glass and razors but not a big deal, just be careful where you drive.

  • *****

I see why these guys have 5 stars. They couldn't help me but are a class act. Highly recommend.

  • *****

Called the shop, received a quote, came in within 30 minutes, and was out in about an hour considering there were 4 cars in front of me. I initially came to replace my driver side mirror but left paying extra to fix the passenger side also. I paid a total of $90 for both sides and there was no BS in between. The shop itself isn't the most appealing nor is the location because its on a busy street on Western and I felt like I held up traffic trying to pull up into the garage. With that said though, I'd definitely come back and would recommend this place to anyone else.

  • *****

No doubt, this is THE place to get glass repair for your car.

Best prices around, great work, and they work fast.

Been here 3 times in the last year -- twice to replace smashed windows from unfortunate break-ins and was just there today to replace a cracked windshield. I was worried about saving the stickers, permits, and necessary whatnot that were on the inside of my old windshield but I didn't have to sweat it because they replaced them on the new windshield in all the exact same spots.

Most importantly, everything's always explained very clearly before, during, and after the job is done which allows the customer to drive in and drive out feeling confident.

    Consistently awesome business.

  • *****

Been here 3 times and have recommended to friend's. They stand by their warranty. There was a flaw in the glass they installed for me at the edge from the manufacturer and they were honest enough to replace it. My go to glass repair shop.

  • *****

horrible service. I called before coming and they told me that they have the part for my car. Came in and waited for 2+ hours and they just said that they did not have it and even did not say sorry.

Update: I had to come back the next day and then everything went smoothly. The owner was very nice and made it up for the previous time. Now that I like this place. My review is now changed from 1 star to 4 stars (still -1 for the the first not-so-good experience.)

I called the day b4 for an estimate of my window that was stuck in the down position.

Hey, My daughter is going to school in Chicago and unfortunately had her car window broke out by some not so nice person. We were given the suggestion of going to Fernandez Glass & Repair.  She was able to take the car in and get the window replaced the same day it was destroyed!!! Awesome work!!! Thanks for the great... no excellent service and price... only $72.85 for a front passenger window!! We are definitely happy with the results!!!

My  1997 Jaguar Vanden Plas rear view mirror leaked a gel which caused it to turn cloudy and dark.  Very dangerous to drive so I embarked upon trying to find a replacement versus repair.  My cost for the part went from $185 used from a junkyard with a 30 day warranty to a new part costing $350-$375 without installation.   My friend and fellow realtor Yuri told me about Fernandez so I went there today.   A replacement part cost $35.00 and the labor was only $15.00 and with tax it totalled $53.23.   JAGUAR OWNERS, there are options and let me tell you these hard workers are HONEST HONEST HONEST.

Awesome service. Put off getting a new windshield for a month, but the crack split in the frigid weather and I knew it was time to get it done. Called this place on Saturday morning, asked for a quote, gave them my car make, model and year, 2 minutes later, I got a price and he said they had my windshield in stock (used). The quote was LESS THAN HALF what Safelite said it would cost (even for a new windshield which they could have ordered). At first I was a little apprehensive about the "used" part, but I went along in the afternoon to take a look. The windshield was great, so I told them to go ahead and do it. He said 90 mins, so we walked to the movie theatre across the street, then spotted Fat Willys Rib Shack (delish!) and went to eat dinner whilst we waited. As soon as we were done eating, we went back and the car was ready-it looked better than new, for a great price! Great service! If you need a new windshield, windshield repair or spare parts, this is the place!

    Fast, fair, reliable.

Needed a car window replaced after a break in. Only took a few hours and I paid less than the fair price the insurance company quoted me. They vacuumed the glass mess and wiped it down. Back on the road. Thank you.

Incredible value for money. Friendly efficient service. Appears to have most glass in stock for common cars. Added bonus this place is located one block away from Owen and Engine (gastro pub) and the Regal Cinema. Drop the car off and walk over to catch a film or a tasty treat.

After seeing the great reviews from Yelp, I called in the morning to see if they could replace my cracked windshield.  The person asked for my car model, (a 2006 Jeep Liberty).  He said he had the windshield in stock and to bring my car in any time today and gave me a price of about $170.  I went over and had my new windshield installed with all stickers and epass remounted by 11:30 am. They were so efficient and nice, No added charges and the 1 hour and 40 minute time to complete was right on target.  I was thrilled.  They deserve all five stars.

In comparison, before going to Fernandez, I called the Jeep dealer.  They told me I could order a new windshield for about $600.  Then I was told, they did not install windshields, and would give me a name of someone who would install them.

Listen to the masses when it comes to this establishment. This place is the best shop to go to when dealing with the struggles of living in the city waking up on a Monday morning, walking up to your vehicle, and seeing shards of glass everywhere because some imbecile decides to violate your private property.

So I called good old Fernandez at 8 AM, came into the shop at 8:30 AM, and got my window replaced by 10 AM. No hassles, no hidden costs, and just the smile on your face.

Great business, but like I told the guy at the desk; I hope to never see him anytime soon again.

I recently broke my passenger mirror while driving thru a construction site.  Yikes!!!!

This was my wife's car and knew that she really needs the mirror to drive around in the city.  In addition I had to be at work in 2 hours.  Called Fernandez and explained my issue.  Drove in to this location, he had me going in 45 min.  The work was great and everything functioned like it never happened.  This is a good handy place to know about in Chicago.

  • *****

    Fernandez is the best!
I called several places to get my back door window from my van glued back and nobody couldn't do it until 2 days later.. Duh, I can leave my van open from the window. So I called Fernandez, I explained my situation and in less than 30 min it was fixed!

  • *****

Great experience! The staff was super friendly. I had my small passenger's side window broken out and my radio stolen. I called for a quote and a gentleman asked me the make and year and quoted me $50. I stopped in at 5pm and they had me out in less than an hour. They even vacuumed out the broken glass for me. I would recommend them.

  • *****

They repaired a small crack in my windshield on a Saturday afternoon.  There were at least 3 repairs before me and they got the work done in roughly 1 hour.  I could see where they repaired the crack when they were done but the technician told me about this before doing the work.  I haven't noticed the spot since the day it was repaired (the minor imperfection is not noticeable).  The repair has held up well for at least 3 months.

I start calling car glass places thinking it's going to be a huge hassle finding two specially shaped windows for a 2002 Mazda Tribute.  Luckily, Fernandez was the first place I called.

I tell the guy on the phone what I need and he says, "Hold on please."  Thirty seconds later he's like, "Yeah, bring it in whenever."  I brought it in a couple days later.  Done in ~90 minutes.

    Two windows, $150 bucks.

    Dude.  Fernandez for life!

    Review long overdue!

Like others, I needed glass replacement and these guys quoted me $130 for my Dodge Charger due to the type of glass I guess. Still way less then the competitors so I took my baby in and was done in less than an hour.

I was hoping this great place had wifi due to someone's previous review, but I learned they do not.

  • *****

I just logged into yelp to specifically give this establishment a positive review. Good prices, fast, and they cleaned all the glass in my car. Would highly recommend to anyone whose had their car broken into or just has to fix their car windows. Good job Fernandez, no wonder you have been in business for so long!

I broke my friends passenger side rear view mirror. I knooooooow!! Such a bad friend.

They had the mirror in stock and they painted it to perfection. I was shocked, so was my friend. She even told me to grab their business card.

Other places estimated 200, another place estimated 450 -_-. Probably because I'm a girl, who knows.

But to get the mirror replaced was 90 and for the paint job an extra 35, did I care? Nope! as long as I wasn't paying 450! And they had it ready when they told me it would be. AMAZING job! Thank you, I will definitely come back to this place.

  • *****

Cheap and fast!!!!!! That is all you need to know.

This is based solely on price...called them up, got a quote, left paying the quoted price....not bad.

Excellent prices and service. Even my city sticker was replaced on my new windshield. Thanks!

My car was broken into this weekend and so my rear passenger window was smashed out, I found Fernandez Auto on google. Not only was my service fast and affordable but the guys also noticed that my car was out of oil. They refilled my oil saving me from a thousand dollar mistake that could have cost me my engine.

  • *****

    Vehicle: 2003 Chevy Trailblazer Ext

Price: fair, I found a few locations that would have cost me less in the south side. Being that this place was in the north side (where I reside) I cant complain.

Customer Satisfaction : excellent,I was greeted with a smile, and after a few moments of shooting the shit he told me the vehicle would have the driver side quarter panel windshield ready in 1 1/2 hours. To his word it was done as propositioned. Not to mention they also put the track for the back side window in the same amount of time.

Perks: They added a switch for the driver side back window, free of charge, thanks buddy.

Price: Quarter panel window $125, window track/ installation $100.00

I'm happy with the price and service that was done.

I had to get my Honda Civic two door's passenger's window replaced because some idiot broke into my car on Valentine's day night, which is a Friday night. Since it was freezing outside, I want to get my window replaced ASAP so I will not be driving with the Chicago weather blowing in my face. I called Fernandez to get my Window replaced. They quoted me with $175 for the window and labor if I get it completed on the same day, which was Saturday when I found out about the smashed window. They did offer me the option to come in the next week on Monday, for $135. Since I have work and didn't have  time, I paid extra to get my window replaced. They were able to order the window and replace it within the same day. Even though the window was expensive in my opinion, i was happy with same day service and their service attitude was pleasant.

I would definitely go there again if in the case some other idiot smash my window again. It's Chicago! I no longer have high expectations.

  • *****

What a great surprise - I checked Yelp for reviews on a place to replace my windshield and saw nothing but rave reviews for Fernandez Auto Glass.  So I called got an estimate (without to many details) and figured since the estimate was about 60% less than my insurance company told me - - I figured when I got there they would say the one I needed would be much more than the estimate.
WRONG!!!  it was price as quoted in the estimate for the top of the line model for my Camry XLE.  No hassles - quick quick service and polite competent employees.   I am SHOCKED - - This doesn't happen in this Century... I feel like I went back to the 50's when service and customer respect was important.... WOW WOW WOW - - don't even think of going anywhere else!

  • *****

I have been here twice for different car problems and they still have an awesome service at an unbeatable price!!!

OK This is a pre review. I took a rock to the windshield today on the way into work. I called picked up right away spoke to sam. Give me the info and I said I will call back. I call 20 minutes later says come on in. I am going in tuesday morning due to work.
I will complete this upon the work. I am coming in with good expectations due to what I have read and am thinking I will not be disappointed.

My front driver's side power window regulator stopped working. I called Fernandez's and let them know what they problem was. They told me if i could get my car there in the next 30 minutes they could fix it. I got there just in time as the day was almost over. They fixed my window just before closing on the spot in 30 minutes without notice or appointment, and it only cost $95! Truly amazing. I highly recommend them!

  • *****

Got my window smashed and found this place on yelp. They quoted me $140, but it ended up being $95 for parts and labor. Woohoo! The waiting room was a little hellish because the tv was playing Wendy Williams and TMZ, but the cat made it much better.

  • *****

I'm pretty sure I don't need to convince anyone on here that this is a great place! Just leaving my 5 stars here.

My experience here: Someone broke my left rear window. I called them the next morning, went over there and they fixed it in about an hour and half, like they said. I have an 2004 Audi A4, so I was thinking it might be a little pricey, and at all the other places I called it was pretty pricey and they said they'd have to order my glass in, and it'll get there in a couple of days or so. But Fernandez had it in stock, and they only charged me $103. For a german car, I'd say that's a great price.

Oh and they also did marvelous job on cleaning up all the broken glass pieces from the back seat and floor mats. Very satisfied with the place!

And they also have a waiting room with an ancient 5 inch TV.

  • *****

Overall a pretty positive experience. Called to get a quote for a windshield for my 2003 Mercedes C240. Now this is an 11 year old car with almost 200,000 miles on it, so my preference was to replace it with a used windshield, which is obviously a lot cheaper. Talked with Javier, who said they didn't have any used windshields for that model and they'd need to order a new one. I told him to order it and I'd be in the next day to have it installed. Dropped it off around 1:00 the next day, once again dealing with Javier. While he seems like a competent young guy, I bet I repeated the year and model number of my car at least six or seven times in my dealings with him. I was tempted to say.... "Why don't you write this information down so I don't have to keep repeating it"?? He quoted me a price of $250 plus tax and said it should take about an hour and a half. It took a little over 3 hours and he stuck to the quoted price. Walking through the shop to pick up my car I had to wade through piles of broken auto glass, which made me worry if my tires survived the drive though the glass minefield. They did, but somebody should spend a few minutes to sweep the floors to avoid tire punctures on customers' cars.

Based on the recommendations posted here, we called, on the 4th of July.  Sure enough they were opened.  We had a good ding/chip in the window, possibly a small rock.  They charged us $50, and they said that if for some reason it didn't work they would apply it as a credit on a full window replacement.  Works for me.  Sadly, the resident cat wasn't in the waiting room, so we went for breakfast at the terrace of the little cafe at the corner, which I highly recommend as well. By the time we were done with breakfast, the car was ready. Thanks to everyone who has posted here previously.  It was as described, no fuss, no drama, no pain.

Had to take in my jeep to get the windshield repaired, got a quote for an original "jeep grille" windshield at a lot less than what the dealer quoted me. Was in and out of there in under 2 hours (which gave us time for burgers at Owen 7 Engine - YUM!).

Great work, friendly service, did not need an appointment. Hopefully I won't need window work very often, but when I do, I'm definitely going there again

Had my side window broken last night at some point and discovered it at about 1pm today.  Called over and was able to drop off, get the window replaced and picked up at 4pm. And the price was great!  Highly recommend this business!

After a break in on my CR-V on Saturday, I called a few well know places, they could not get to me till Monday. I looked on yelp and Fernandez had great reviews. I went to them before because my rear window motor went out on my other car and they changed it rather quickly. Same happened here. Fixed fast, and for half the price of the bigger window repair places.

I've been putting off my windshield repair for MONTHS. Dreading it. Now my city sticker was about to expire and i figured it's as good a time as ever before I get my new sticker.

Had I known it would be a super quick and affordable operation at Fernandez Auto Glass and Repair I would have done it months ago.

I called around lunch time, drove over and had my car back 1.5 hrs later with all city/parking stickers and IPASS in place.

This shop is as good as it gets! I hope I never have to go back for another windshield replacement but if I do - I know I'll be in good hands! And the cat in the lobby was an added bonus.

  • *****

Amazing service.  I had a windshield replaced on a Honda Odyssey in under two hours and for an incredible price.  The guys were friendly and accommodating.  I will send everyone I talk to here.  So glad I searched yelp when in need of a new windshield.

I had my broken windshield replaced today for $175.00 They accept walk in customers. Very nice work within acceptable time while you wait. 1-1 1/2 hour is not bad at all . I highly recommend this place to anyone!

  • *****

Yup, it's the real deal people. Found this place on internet thanks to all the Yelp reviews.  Quoted me $190 for a windshield replacement when the next closest was $330 from the nationally televised place.  The dealer? $fuhgettaboutit.

  • *****

So glad I Googled, "the best auto glass repair near me" and Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair popped up! After having a terrible experience at the dealership, I called Fernandez Auto for a quote. Not only did they quote me much less than the dealer, they also got the work done in less than two hours. The dealership told me that they would need to hire and pay an auto glass company to replace the window since it required glue and not bolts - it was the right side quarter glass on my 2013 Mazda CX-5. They also told me that they would need to keep my car for 24 hours and I would need a rental for the day.

I saved a lot of time and money by going to Fernandez! I even told the dealership that it would make more sense for me to go to a glass specialist myself and they told me that the glass would not be the official Mazda glass. Well the glass from Fernandez Auto looks official to me - it has the exact same Mazda label as the window on the left side... Thanks Fernandez!

I got a quote from Safelite.......they wanted $280 to fix my window! These guys did it for 75 bucks!  Can ya beat it? No you can't!

My car was broken into and with one call to Fernandez AG&R my day was saved. Not only was this the lowest price by about 50% compared to everywhere else, my window was replaced in under an hour. Good Work!

Out of no where I got a crack on my Matrix's windshield that just kept getting bigger and came across this place with great reviews while searching. Called them first and they said it's first come first served, so I got there at 8:30am opening time. Guy give quick quote and said either wait here or come back in about a hour and a half. Their waiting room it's pretty crappy with a tiny TV! But fear not, there are quite a few places within walking distance. For instance, there's Target, Dunkin Donuts, Panera Bread, Chipotle and Potbelly's. Now for the actual work: Yes, these guys are good! It did take them exactly 2 hours but it looks great! The price is very reasonable too!

There's a reason these guys have such a great rating.  Quick, honest, and inexpensive.  They're my go to for any auto glass work.  I've sent several people here and they've all had very good experiences.

    Amazing work and cheap price!

Called around 10:30am yesterday and asked about getting a quote for a full windshield replacement. After get a few outrageous quote from other glass repair shops I was surprised to find that Fernandez beat them all by $300. I was satisfied with the quote and asked about getting an appointment. The man on the phone explained to me that it was "First come, First Serve". I brought my car in during lunch and I was called less than 2 hours later that it was ready for pickup. Excellent work and quick service.

    I have a 2010 Nissan Altima 4-door and paid $155.

  • *****

Passenger side window wasn't working anymore. Went to a mechanic that quoted me $300 but surprisingly referred me to this place, his reasoning, "they'd be able to do it faster and cheaper than I would." He was right because they not only got me out of there in 30 mins but it only cost me $72!!

  • *****

I didn't want the 1/4" crack in my windshield to get any bigger, so looked into getting it fixed right away. I read some of the glowing reviews here, was told over the phone it would be $50, which was $5-$15 cheaper than other places I'd called. I went over yesterday, waited about 45 min, and it was fixed... for $40. Now I can hardly see where it was. Great work, and gladly recommend.

  • *****

Borrowed friends jeep to haul some crown moulding (not heavy) and the frigid windshield cracks when barely tapped by the wood. Call these guys 1st on the list, get a fast but clear talking latino that says 1) has the window in stock TODAY!.. 2) can do it whenever I wanna come in (today even), 3) has a price of only $165! (maybe cuz there's no rubber around that window), 4) can do it in fast... 1.5hrs!!, 5) transaction completed exactly as stated, 6) gave instructions before handing keys to let the glue dry maximally (don't drive over 55mi/hr for 24hrs etc).  Seriously, I'm thrilled with 4 stars but 5 stars these guys deserve a pat on the back for being awesome!

  • *****

After some unkind person smashed in my window, I took my car over to Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair. The quote I was given on the phone was honored when I went into the shop.  The repair was completed in an hour.  This is a great place to go!

  • *****

Unbelievable service.  I walked in there at 12-noon and walked out at 1:30 with a new windshield and rear view mirror.  The dealer quoted me $700.  I was out the door paying only $150 +tax on the windshield only.  I will definitely use this place again for any auto-glass repairs I need.

These guys are the best. I found the lowest price anywhere, considering my vehicle had been broken into the night before. So, on a Sunday morning, I was furious and called my insurance company who had locations I could send my car to BUT not on weekends!. So, I found these guys on Western Avenue and they were able to take my insurance from GEICO and fix my broken window! I have an 04' Highlander Toyota and they were able to match the factory tint as if it never happened!. I highly recommend these guys. The place itself may not look like a "posh" place but that's exactly it - you will not pay the overhead other fancy places charge you. LOL These guys focus on what they do - AUTO GLASS!.

  • *****

Really great price, even lower than the quote they gave me over the phone.

Though I waited for about 3 hours (windshield replacement) in the shop, so it's probably best to bring reading material or drop your car off.

  • *****

My wifes 4-Runner passenger front door glass was broken. Dealer window only price was $360 plus labor. local mechanics was around $200 for Glass and work and about a week to wait. Went there next day and within about1 hour I got it fixed for $85. Great Job!

  • *****

I had a chip in my windshield that turned into a crack in the crazy Chicago weather. I found Fernandez on Yelp and gave them a call. They were open on Sunday and told me to come in anytime, I didn't need an appointment. They gave me a quick quote to replace the windshield which was MUCH lower than I was expecting. They replaced the windshield, city sticker and all, in about 2 hours. Not the most comfortable waiting room, so I walked down the street to Target while I waited. Would definitely come back for other repairs!

I'm just one more in an apparent long line of people that are raving about this place.  I took my '05 GMC Denali there today regarding the usual city story... (Punks smashed my passenger window and made a mess of things.)  I am an old school kind of guy and have always just gone to the junkyard in this situation to grab a perfectly good $20 used window to install myself.  After having come up with failure this time around, I stumbled upon Fernandez Glass here on Yelp.  I couldn't be anymore pleased!  It was exactly as others have said.  Friendly, to the point... And cheap!  $75 cheap!  It was a nice, no nonsense experience.  "Fix the glass and get people out."  They totally get it.  No sales pitch... No "making you feel stupid"... Just a good honest business. Some have mentioned the "simple" feel of the experience and waiting room like it's some sort of detriment.  Conversely, it only heightened my experience.  It took me back to those bygone days when a shop was just what it was... No nonsense quality.  If you want a latte and a lot of following perpetual grief?... go somewhere else.  If you want your glass fixed by friendly and competent professionals?... Definitely go to Fernandez.  I'm sold!  No more digging through the junkyard and doing it myself as long as these guys are around!

2008 Acura RL. The windshield was replaced 4years ago. 2 years ago the top passenger side stated to leak water at the end of winter (when the snow started to melt). Took it to the Acura dealer and they said it would be $175 to seal the windshield. ok, sold. Last year, it stated AGAIN and they said they would seal it again for no charge but if it leaked again, they would have to break the windshield and put in a new one and reseal it for $700. ok? THIS year it started to leak again. No friggin way am I paying $700 bucks so I started to do a search and found Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair. After checking out the reviews, I called last week and they told me 150 if they don't break the windshield and 350 if they had to break it. I thought about it and went today. After 30 minutes, they found the leak and started to seal it from the inside. After another 90 minutes of letting it set and testing for leaks, they told me I was good to go. I asked how much and the guy said $40 for labor only. WOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!! I had to do a double take at the invoice. Gladly paid the $40 and when I was leaving, gave the repair guy $10 for lunch. Maybe I should have given him $20.

    Bottom line.
I saw several other customers come in, pay a fraction of what I thought the charge would be and left HAPPY CAMPERS!!!

Mention YELP and see what happens. :)

This place is great! I called them on a Sunday, and they were open! That's rare enough. On top of that, the quote they gave me for a brand new windshield was over $100 less than any other I received. I dropped off my car and it was ready in under an hour and a half, and like new! For windshield repair, this is a great place.

Fast, Great price, Great work. You can stop shopping around...I called them up for a quote, went that afternoon after work, and they replaced my rear window while I shopped at target. Hope I never have to replace another car window, but if I do I will definitely come back here.

What started out as a small crack in my windshield quickly spread due to the changing temperatures.

When our first major snow came, I became worried that the weight of the snow would be too much for my windshield.

The forecast predicted more snow overnight so I quickly yelped "windshield repair" and this place came up with 5 stars, and I know why!

They were able to accommodate me 2 hours before closing, in awful weather and had my cars windshield in stock.  90 minutes later, I was on my way, with a new windshield and without going broke.  I believe it was under $200 total.

    Thanks guys!

the upside to my car getting broken into? finding this place to fix my window! this place rocks. fairest price in town with professional work. while others quoted well over $150, i got my window fixed or $75. can't beat that! Thanks guys!

These guys are awesome...Passenger window did not work, pulled in at 9:30am got the car back by 11. Very very reasonably priced. If you have window issues...go here...Small waiting room, there were 10 people waiting for there cars.

Cold , snowy, morning and my window is stuck down. A quick trip to Fernandez Auto Glass and my problem is solved. They also replaced a broken door handle while I was there. This was all done within an hour while I waited at a fair price. 5 stars one more time.

My son was visiting Chicago and had his passenger window broken out three hours after he arrived! He was upset and didn't know what to do. I made one call to Fernandez and they said that they had the window in stock and could have it installed within an hour for $85!! I have been in the auto business for over 30 years and was admittedly skeptical. I couldn't even buy a window that cheap, let alone have it installed. I asked them again, and they said yes, they could have it installed in an hour for $85 plus tax. I sent my 18 year old son over there, and they did just what they promised. They even cleaned up the broken glass and cleaned their fingerprints off of the new/used window. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this business to anyone!!! • • • My son was visiting Chicago and had his passenger window broken out three hours after he arrived! • • • I read the 5 previous reviews and thought I would give these guys a shot. Thank you • • • Best experience i ever had going to a car shop. Waiting room was ok, but the service was excellent. I was quoted over $500 at other repair shops for a new rear window. Decided to stop by Fernandez just to see what they'd say: $120 and it'd be done within an hour and a half. There were a half dozen other people in the place, and they are were in and out by the time my car was done.

New window and they cleaned out the broken glass inside the car. I'm recommending them to anyone who has an unfortunate Chicago break-in.

I was the victim of vandalism and it was a pain to go out and get the best prices I could. My mechanic, Marvin's on Belmont, recommended Fernandez and lo and behold, of the three estimates I got (including $200 from Gerber in Lakeview), Fernandez offered the most reasonable at $50 for the same job. Got it done in less than an hour. Courteous, too. Waiting room with a TV made it easier too. Go there!

I was looking for a place to fix my windows that got stuck. I called a guy that my mom usually goes to and he wanted $150-$160/window. After looking online, I came across this place. All the positive Yelp reviews gave me the confidence to call and get a quote. I was extremely happy when the man on the phone said $75/window which was waaayyy less than the other guy quoted me. I went in the next day (which was yesterday) and they fixed both my driver and passenger side window in less than 2 hours!!!! The total came to $150 which is what the orginial guy was going to charge me for one window. I'm completely pleased and will go back to this place. Fast,  easy service and the customers that came in there were super friendly too. Everyone just chatted with each other
SN: The waiting area is extremely cold. I did go on a day that it was below zero but it seemed like the heat never came on. So you might want to leave and come back. That's really not a complaint though because I would choose no heat than higher rates.

    Thanks Fernandez Auto Glass

I am going to be short and to the point.

These guys are great. I needed a new windshield on my Ford Escape. I was in and out of there in two hours. I even dropped my car off at 4pm! The entire cost? $222. Good value and great service. Would rec

    Fast, reasonably priced and friendly.

My drivers' side window wasn't working and a friend recommended Fernandez. They fixed it quickly and for less than their quote. If you need glass or a window repair, THIS is the place to go!

  • *****

well, after recieving a hole in my window from some cowardly low-life, I decided, after the counsel of my google and friends, to take it in to the Hernandez folks.  I got my passenger window replaced for 75 buckaroos!  Plus, there IS a burger king next door to celebrate your victory.  It took about half an hour but it wasn't busy that hour of the day.

  • *****

I needed my front windshield replaced for my 05 Acura TL after a flying rock came off of a semi truck.  I had no idea where to go and turned to yelp. I came across Fernandez and saw that they had a ton of reviews and 5 stars....amazing!  After reading the reviews, I called for an estimate and they were extremely, reasonably cheap and could do it same day within an hour!  When I told my coworkers, he then told me this was he "go-to" place.  He stated that they were the best around.  I had great service here and was out in a little over an hour...they were swamped when I got there.  I had no problem waiting being that it was same day service and it was that cheap for a brand new window!  Definitely recommend this place for window replacement.

On Sunday September 1st, my windshield was shattered on the highway when some asshole decided to throw a rock over the viaduct and it landed on my windshield. Anyways, I was pissed off and my car was full of glass. I could barely see out of the windshield.

The next morning, after most of the anger subsided, I started calling around to get a price. Nobody picked up their phones. Anger started to return and then I realized it was labor day. I came across Fernandez and though, ah what the hell I'll try one more place.

Then boom! He answered the phone and gave me a quote and told me they were open on Labor Day! I immediately left and headed straight there. I pulled in to the garage and was told that the window was about $50 cheaper than what I was quoted because he had looked up the wrong year on accident. Again, another plus!

We went into the waiting room and were joined by about 4 more car owners who all had break-ins. All of us were in and out of there within the hour. My total was super cheap compared to what I thought it would be and I received a brand new window that looks great.

They even cleaned every shard of glass from my car!

You can't go wrong with these guys. Do yourself a favor and just go to them.

  • *****

These guys are awesome. If you speak Spanish it's even easier to communicate. (I don't). I will go back in a heartbeat if I need any little part for me car. I had a broken side mirror made by some irate cyclist having a really bad day. I called to see if they had the part. They did, so I went in a couple days later. It wasn't the right one so they deeply apologized, ordered one and I came back the next morning. They noticed a tiny little scratch, which I couldn't even and still can't see. They asked me if I wanted that one or they would reduce the price $10. Wow! Since I couldn't even see the scratch I didn't care. They installed it and I was out the door within 15-20 minutes.

Can't believe how many different kinds of car parts that they have there. No idea how they know what they have, but they do. Everyone there is very nice, friendly and helpful. They are my new favorite "go to" place for broken parts to my car. Not just windows. They have it all or will get it for you.

Thanks so much Fernandez. You rock!

    My experience:
I had to replace windshield in my Nissan Sentra 2006 due to a rock chip damage.
Fernandez installed a brand new windshield (with awesome upper tint) in an appropriate amount of time and professionally installed my ipass, sticker and mirror. I was extremely happy with the service and the price.
It has been a month and the windshield looks great and doesn't leak.
The cat in the waiting room was extremely entertaining.
Fernandez Auto glass is a really good business that can be trusted.

These guys are great. Good price, great service, no ripoffs. Called at 12:30, new windshield by 2:30. On a Sunday. On Labor Day Weekend. Amazing.

Another satisfied customer!!!  My '01 Tribute was vandalized while parked and called insurance and they have we a quote for as other place but I found Fernandez on Yelp & yup, they were cheaper.  I got in and out... Definitely would go to again if I had to.

  • *****

One word ...Awesome! In & out in a flash and you cannot beat the prices. I was quoted $239.00 for a back windshield & would have to bring it in the next day..call us first ..blah blah blah..called fernandez and was in and out within an hour $125.00.

  • *****

This place is amazing!  I noticed my window was smashed and I brought it in at 4pm and was out by 5.  The price was perfect and they were so nice.  Don't go anywhere else!

I'm a repeat customer and haven't been let down. Had an emergency window replacement issue and they were quick and super cheap. Window button didn't work? In and out in 20 minutes and under $70. Crazy. Will definately go back if I have another issue.

  • *****

my '12 bmw window got smashed overnight and I called fernandez at around 1030am and by 1pm the window was there available. within an hour the job was done.

bmw had quoted me about 3 times more than what fernandez did, and his quote was about 55% cheaper than his nearest competitor.

they are like a drive through of glass repair/replacement. quick, in and out and an outstanding service. highly recommended.

not only was it done FAST and WELL PRICED. they called me the next day and said they thought they cahrged me too much and wanted to give me more moeny back? who does that. amazing service!

Standing ovation. Woke up to find my back windshield shattered by the storm the night before (or an act of god, I think he's gunning for me) and no clue what to do. Call to insurance, yeah we can help after you pay your deductible. Quick internet search and then a smarter yelp search led me to Fernandez. After reading the glowing reviews from my peers, shout out to Damian C., I called for a quote. Very decent price. Call another place for a quote and they told me to call Fernandez. When other auto body shops are directing you back to the first place you called, its a good sign. Called Fernandez again to ask if I had to worry about all the broken glass, no worries he said and said I didn't even need to come with the car, they would call me when it was done. Being a slight type A I went with the car, checked it in and went to grab some lunch. Oh Owen & Engine is right down the street as is Fat Willy's Rib Shack -both great options. I choose the former and enjoyed a beer and burger as I waited for my car. 1.5 hours and $150 later my car look just like it had the day before.

Waiting area isn't the most glamourous and the website is bar bones but if that keeps the prices down, I'm all for it. So if you are needing some new glass on your vehicle stop reading now and just go there. They really turned a situation that had potential to be super stressful into just another saturday morning.

  • *****

I called ahead and got an estimate on a front windshield replacement(I emailed but they didnt respond). They said to simply show up and it should take 1.5 hrs and cost $180 (I have a Camry). I showed up and they did exactly what they said they would do. They handled all my stickers on my windshield with ease too. This is a very hassle-free, efficient place. Don't judge it by it's decor.

  • *****

Great job, simple and easy to deal with.  Price to replace a driver's-side window motor was half of what the nearest Subaru dealership would charge (shocker.)  Didn't feel like I was getting a runaround or ripoff at any point.  Recommended.

  • *****

Polite and detailed oriented. I called at 10am and said they would have my new windshield in by 3pm. Which they did. Took about 90 minutes to install and very reasonable rates.

They even somehow removed my city parking permit decal from my broken windshield and reapplied it to my new windshield  INTACT!  They have a back parking lot (behind Burger King) where my car was safely stored off the street.

Getting windows replaced is no joy-but this is as good as it gets. Plus, they do have a cute garage cat that meows a hello.

I keep telling people...you gotta go to Fernandez! Theyll hook you up with window glass!

Another satisfied customer.  Cracked windshield.  $172.  New windshield.

Note: this place is about a block and a half away from Fat Willie's Rib shack (best ribs I've had).  If you want to avoid sitting in the waiting room for an hour and a half, take a few of the bucks you're saving on the window, take a walk, have a rack of baby backs.  Walk back.  Drive home full and happy.

Such a great experience!  I had a crack in the windshield of my 2000 Honda Accord that required the windshield to be replaced.  I called them and they said they had a new one in stock.  Dropped my car off at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon (bonus, they are open on weekends!!) they said it would take an hour to an hour and half to replace.  All said and done, $155 to replace my windshield!!

They even were considerate enough to put my velcro stickies for my iPass back on the windshield!!  If you need anything auto glass related, even door handles,  this is THE place to go in Chicago!!

  • *****

Awesome I highly recommend!!!Great service. Work done in the time quoted. I got a spider web crack in my windshield from a rock on the Kennedy. I called the subaru dealer they said 450.00 installed(i have a 2011 forester)I called safelite they said 400. I called another glass place and they said about 300.00. I then asked a co-worker his opinion on getting windshield replaced(he is gear head) he said f@$% the dealer and safelite they are a rip off call Fernandez. So i call on Friday afternoon they had the glass in stock he said come in when i have time during their r business hours and he will do it for 195.00. i got there at 2pm on saturday and man it was packed the guy there  says "no problem come back in two hours it will be done". I then asked if he had a razor blade so i could get my 225.00 Shitty of Shitcago sticker of the glass so i wont be out another 200.00 he looked at me  smiled and "I got you no problem I will take care of it". I came back at 4 pm sharp and BOOM car fixed and ready to go just as promised. Great service a salvaged city sticker and new windshield for two hundred bones. Awesome !!!!!!!

  • *****

In and out in less than two hours for a complete windshield replacement on a Toyota Highlander.

Very impressed with the competency, professionalism, and honesty of the staff. He even asked me how much he quoted me on the phone and used that price! (good thing I'm an honest person too...)

They don't have anyone sitting at the window/desk to greet people as they come in, so be patient when you come in the door. Someone always comes in to help in a few seconds.

I will come back here for any other automotive glass needs, even though it's on the other side of town from me.

Similarly to others who have reviewed, some asshole broke the passenger front window of our car to get a handful of quarters and a three pack of Wrigley's Doublemint gum while we were at a concert in Lincoln Square.  Since a large snowstorm is predicted for Tuesday, we didn't really have the luxury of putting off the repair.  Fernandez Auto Glass to the rescue!  I called about 9 this morning, told them I had a PT Cruiser, and they said they could do it today, $75, would take an hour.  And by golly, that's all it took.  The waiting room is typical auto repair - gloomy, with a TV no one watches, but there are restaurants all around (it's at Diversey and Elston next to the "Hakido - Martial art NOT sport" place), and for an hour, you can deal.  I went to the Golden Nugget and had breakfast, and by the time I wandered back 50 minutes later, the car was done.  Granted, they missed vacuuming up a fair amount of glass and I managed to shred my hand trying to wipe off the little shards still on the back of the driver's seat, but that was my own stupid fault.  Curiously, when your car is finished, they walk you through their work floor and show you out the back door to the alley, where you must walk a ways to their parking lot.  I suspect this curtails any picayune complaints customers may have such as "I can still see glass on the carpet."  But, for $75 and immediate service, I guess it was just as well that I had to keep my observations to myself.  I went back to my neighborhood and had my car washed and the inside vacuumed and wiped down, so I am in great hopes that most of the tiny shards of glass are gone from the vehicle.  I am very grateful I won't have 6 inches of snow in my car tomorrow.  I do really appreciate that.

Having to deal with my car getting broken into was a hassle enough, then calling around and getting ridiculous quotes for fixing my window was not much better.  This place was cheap and quick.  Thank you!

  • *****

Thanks to their glowing Yelp reviews, I chose these guys to fix a windshield chip that I acquired from a dastardly Wisconsin back road over the summer.  The work could have been done a lot more cleanly, but it was certainly done cheaply and quickly.  I was a little alarmed to hand over the key to my darling when the guy did nothing more than scribble my name, phone number, and the make of the car on a piece of notebook paper.  But in the end, all was well and I assume that my car was not joyridden around town a la Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

  • *****

It's a rare pleasure to leave a review that says what all the other reviews have already said:  that all the 5-star reviews of this place are thoroughly deserved.  And they are.  Woke up to discover that some miscreant had smashed out the passenger side windows of a bunch of cars in my parking garage, including mine, and looted the interiors.  Went through the five stages of grief, vacuumed out the broken glass, hit the yelps, and then called up Fernandez.

They quoted me a figure that was hundreds less than what my dealer gave, and told me to come in the next morning.  Was in an out in about an hour.  Parts and labor (for new glass, but they also offer used) came out to less than the pair of sunglasses that got swiped.  The only negative about the whole experience that I can think of is that there's an adorable garage cat that has free roam of the waiting room (see pic), and I'm allergic to cats.  But I know most people on the internet love cats and would consider this a bonus, so I'm still giving the place 5-stars.

  • *****

Went off the reviews and was not disappointed.  My type of place!.  No nonsense with great price on repairs.  Had my windshield replaced for at least 30% (comparing apples to apples on glass quality) less than other places.  They did a timely job and were easy to deal with on the phone and in person.  I did have to call to get the status of the repair since they forgot to call me and let me know it was done hence 4 vs. 5 starts.

  • *****

welp. another year, another side mirror?

$75 in and out within in hour.

They even scraped the numbers off my windshield from it being towed! AND bent my wiper back into place...thanks chicago.

  • *****

This place rocks!  i asked yelpers where to take my car for a broken window...not the glass, the motor in the door.  Mind you, this broke when i was back in SF, where i was quoted a few hundred bucks by a trusted mechanic!  well, procrastination pays off.

i brought it in today.  it was fixed while i waited.  ready in an hour.  and only $91.85.  Just impossible to beat!  yay!!!  so great to have this finally done.  The guys there were awesome.  oh, and there's a great little breakfast spot on the corner with fantastic coffee.  Go hand out there while you wait.

  • *****

This place is AWESOME! I love love love this place. Why? Because I am that driver that you all cuss at and get into a lot of little scrapes! =)

This is the second time I've been here. The first time is because my driver side mirror got busted because some dickheads in the neighborhood probably thought it was a good idea to smash some mirrors one night. That was 1.5 years ago and they did a great job. Not only did they fix the mirror, they spray painted it to match the car as much as possible (which they didn't have to do that). I went back today to get my passenger side mirror done because as I was parking, a garbage can that doesn't like me hit me and the mirror got knocked off! Garbage cans are so emotional sometimes!! Anyway, they replaced the mirror today and again spray painted it to match closely to my car. The one thing that they f'ed up was now the up button on the controls turns the mirror right and the right button turns it up. BUT... I don't care much about little things like that. They are awesome!!

Dear Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair,

    THANK YOU FOR EXISTING.

    Love,
    Me

My story is similar to almost everyone else's here: some jerk-hole decided it would be a great idea to break the driver's side window of my car and steal nothing but my patience for the down-trodden.

I turned to Yelp immediately to help me find a place to repair my window since my insurance company kept recommending places that were upcharging out the wazoo.  So, I find Fernandez.  I call them on a Thursday afternoon and say "I need to come in tomorrow first thing and have my window replaced before I go to work."  Their response: "Absolutely.  See you at 9:00 a.m."

They had my window in stock (2011 Ford Fiesta) and the entire replacement process took about 45 minutes.  The waiting room is comfortable enough with a TV playing channel 2 morning shows (The Price Is Right, etc.).  There's also a super cute cat that hangs around the shop who spent some time getting pets from me while I was waiting for my car.  Cute!

Prices are reasonable, especially for the quick and efficent work.  I paid about $170 for everything, including a sweep out of the inside of my door and car since there were still thousands of tiny shards of glass all over the place.  Nice work, Fernandez!  Hopefully I will never be unlucky enough to be back here, but they will be my go-to for all kinds of break-in related glass repair.

  • *****

My friend was really upset when her truck's passenger window was smashed in. Unfortunately, her GPS was stolen--but on the bright side of things she got her window fixed in under an hour & it was only $77.00.

We drop right in, dropped off the car & that was it. Fast, easy & very cool service. When we came back the guy said, "Sorry you have to come back tomorrow..." We were like huh? He replied while laughing, "Just kidding! It is all better!" I guess my Monday morning humor needs to get better.

Basically these guys rock. Very cool. Very very cool.

Recently purchased a 2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara with a cracked driver side mirror.  A few days later, the back plastic part fell off.  Called to the dealership where i purchased the car and found out they gave me credit for the mirror.  Then I called to a Suzuki dealership and I kid you not....they quoted me a price of 419 dollars for the repair!!!  Well I got smart....bought the mirror off ebay for 62 dollars and the next step was to find somone to put it on my car.
I called to a repair shop that repairs foreign cars and they referred me to Fernandez Auto Glass and Repair.  Once I received the number, I immediately called and right there in that conversation, Fernandez Auto Glass and Repair, quoted me a price and a waiting time for repair.  They also said bring it in anytime.
Brought the car, gave them the part...done in 35 minutes!!!  The price they quoted me on the phone was the same price they charged me!!
Quick, reasonable, professional service beyond my expectation!!!  Very pleased with my car.  Tipped them well.

So to my UNPLEASANT surprise I was woken up by a neighbor to tell me my window was busted in. I purposely leave my doors open in hopes that if you want to steal the NOTHING I have in there just open the door dont break the window. They broke the window anyhow. I quickly called Fernandez and they asked what type of car I had and quoted me at $65. I went in immediately on a Sunday and they did it in under 30 minutes. They also got about 95% of the glass that was all over the place. I know I'll be pullin the rest of the 5% up for the next several years.
They were quick and very affordable in a very important time of need!!!

  • *****

I have to thank Yelp and all the Yelpers for helping find this place and all i have to say is this place is AWESOME!  From the service to the great price the quoted me, my entire experience was just like the reviews i read.  My expectations were high and still were met!  I would absolutely go back and recommend this place to all my friends and family!

  • *****

Great service and price.  My passenger side window got smashed in on a Sunday.  I originally chose this place because it was the only one open.  I called at 2:00 and took my car in.  They took me right away and replaced the window in about 30 minutes!

  • *****

    Quick, Efficient and good Prices!

  • *****

Holy crap!  This place rocked.  Who knows how much a window costs to repair, these guys had me in and out (that's what she said) in about an hour, for $91--that includes tax!  Thanks to all the Yelpers that steered me this way.  Although I was confused when I first walked in (no one was at the front desk, and random guys standing outside speaking Spanish, which (I was so proud of myself) I understood, the manager promptly quoted me an estimate, and got to work!

Thanks so much for helping this frazzled Yelper out after a break in!  :-)

  • *****

    Ahhhh, my saviors!

Thanks to the Yelp suggestions, I brought my poor Focus here to get some TLC!  The rear, passenger side window's motor was broken (or something like that).  Because of that, the window would slowly slide down after going above 50mph.  And, the only way to get the window back up was to manually shimmy it up.  This is not conducive during morning commutes when it's 5 degrees outside.  Ya know?

After driving around like this for a good 6 months, I finally gave in and figured it was time to get it fixed.  Quote? $100 and 1hr.  And, it really ONLY took an hour.  These guys work fast!  They were pretty busy whn I got there, but none of the other customers looked annoyed or irrate, so that's always a great sign.

Friendly service!  Waiting room is a little 'meh', so take something to read if you get bored easily.  Oh, and 90-day warranty on your service, so keep your receipt!  Lovely.

  • *****

Tuesday morning I became a statistic.  I am now one of the countless Chicagoland victims to some P.O.S. who thought it a wise idea to bust out my front passenger window.  I saw broken crumbled glass all over my front seat, dash and floor.  Every compartment was open with papers and items spewed all over the car.  Go figure I JUST got my car detailed a few weeks ago.  It was the PERFECT start to a Tuesday morning where I was already running late to work after a sleepless night.

The overly-dramatic trait came out in me as I frantically called everyone who would listen (at 7:15AM) and told my horror story.  Fortunately, Yelpers saved me with her referral of Fernandez's and helped me calm down.

After calling in for a quote for the job, which was $75, I stopped in after work to have the new window put in.  In about an hour, I had a new window (well, the glass may be used but whatever, it's not a hole anymore) and an interior vacuumed clean.  The staff was friendly and they stuck to their quote.  The location is conveniently right around the corner from Target so I was able to get some shopping done while I waited.

I hope not to become as frequent a visitor to Fernandez's as Colleen C. is, but should this ever happen again, I know where I'll be taking my car.

  • *****

For the longest time, the front window on my pimp wagon (AKA: 1999 Olds Alero), had a long crack in it.  I was waiting to receive the new city stickers to replace it.  Well, when the stickers came a few weeks ago it dawned on me that I had no clue where to go to get the glass replaced.  So, I called up my people at Ashland Auto to have them recommend a place.  Without skipping a beat, they directed me to Fernandez Auto Glass and Repair.

The service was straight up and they finished the work when they said they would.  They gave me a price up front, and that's what I paid.  I was done in 90 minutes.  Just enough time to grab breakfast at Cornerstone Cafe and wander around the Elston Target.

  • *****

Same story, SUV window busted, drove over to Fernandez Auto Glass and they replaced the window in 40 minutes and for $75.

On a separate note, I hope the thief is enjoying my car radio and Lil Wayne CDs, as well as my worn out seat covers and gym shoes.

  • *****

Someone must have been dying to get at the string cheese wrapper and the empty Vitamin Water bottle in my company car the other night...cuz they smashed in the back window.  Oy.

While I'd resigned myself to going into work late the following day and doing it first thing, the friendly dude at Fernandez suggested I bring it in that night so I didn't have to worry about it getting rained on overnight.  Nice.  Friendly and sweet.  (Besides, I hadn't even contemplated how I was going to get the plastic on the window.)

The car was ready the next day as promised, with price as quoted.  Actually, he knocked $10 off.  So estimate was spot on even with tax.

Thanks, Fernandez.  You made a bad situation so much easier for me.

Now, if you could talk to the accounting department and get me reimbursed sooner, I'd love you forever....

  • *****

Hmmm, this was a fun one. Wish I had known about Fernandez the last few times my car's been violated, but alas I am just stumbling upon it now.

After a sweetheart of a gal (heavy sarcasm) opened her door into traffic (me), I was in a pickle. Winter weather, busted out window = no good. As much as I enjoyed the trashy look of driving around with a garbage bag duct taped to the door, I do have a few shreds of dignity left when it comes to my car. (not much, but still)

I yelp searched "auto glass repair" and up came Fernandez. They do used glass, I didn't even know this type of shop existed. Seriously, it's like thrift store shopping for car parts, except they just do the shopping and installation. Genius.

I got out of there for under $115 (ummm...what!?), and they installed the passenger window, and replaced the side mirror entirely...they even vacuumed. Bonus, 'cause I hate vacuuming my car in the winter....or anytime for that matter, but the crunchy glass slivers all over the car were troublesome.

The best part? Under an hour start to finish.

Ya know your car is going to get broken into (or run into) eventually, so best be lookin' up Fernandez. Worth the trip. Cheap, reliable, fast...

  • *****

A cold breeze blowing into my car after I had already closed the driver's side door, let me know that - *hooray* - I had been the victim of my second crime in three months. Glancing over at the seat next to me, I noticed that my passenger was now a very large rock and a ton of glass (it even made it to the back seat).  So, I did what any die-hard Yelper would do in the situation.  I went and got drunk.  In the morning, I called Fernandez Auto Glass (thanks to Ryan L. for both the ride to boozahol and for this recommendation).

Over the phone, Fernandez asked for the make, model, and year of the car (which really made it not worth breaking into and I appreciate that they didn't laugh) and gave me a guaranteed rate quote of $75 (a blessing since it was coming out of pocket).  They let me know that if I could get the car in before 6:00 p.m., they would fix it the same day.

I dillied and dallied too much but the next day after work when I took the car in in, it took less than 45 minutes to fix the window as good as new.  They even went the extra mile to search the entire car for glass and vacuum the entire interior.

One small flaw though.  When I dropped the car off, they didn't tell me how long it was going to be.  I sat in the waiting room only informed by previous reviews how quick they were.  As has been pointed out in other reviews, the waiting room leaves much to be desired in the way of entertainment or even a working water dispenser.  But if that's how they keep the cost down, more power to them.

Finally, to the second idiot thief in three months, I hope you were able to use or pawn my satellite radio without the antennae.  Dick.  Though I do have to give you credit for finding a 14 pound rock on Sacramento Avenue in all the snow to throw through my window.  That had to take effort.

    If your window gets busted,
    these guys can be trusted.

These guys can take the pain out of a painful experience - the classic Chicago smash 'n grab.  This time I got my window smashed at 1PM on a Sunday about a block south of the new Whole Foods on Kingbury.

If you live in the City, you should expect to get robbed/broken into in some way about every other year.  Just plan on it and accept it when it happens.  A lot of times you are just asking for it.  This time I really was asking for it - the nerve of me to have my ghetto tape deck converter wire leading to a compartment in my dash where someone could think an old-ass iPod MIGHT have been stored...and the nerve of me to park right outside of one of the busiest grocery stores in the city during one of the busiest times of the weekend in broad daylight.

Anyway, I'm supposed to be talking about Fernandez.  In less than the amount of time I spent bitching about this, Fernandez would have your smashed window fixed.  I got a used window - it cost me $90 and exactly 45 minutes of my time and the end result was as if nothing had happened (aside from that old iPod being gone).  The window even had the old sticker my smashed one used to have.  It wasn't even worth going through insurance.

WHEN I get the smash 'n grab again I feel better knowing I can always come here, and it will be a completely painless experience.

This is why Yelp is awesome - because you can find out about local businesses that you wouldn't otherwise know about and it can make all the difference...in this case, to my wallet.  Sure, finding good eats is great, but that food isn't going to stay in my stomach forever and a majority of the time, the experience doesn't stick with me for very long either.  A windshield, on the other hand, is a much larger investment cause I've it to look at it (or through it...) everyday.

It started with a tiny crack that I got patched up at Safelite Auto in Naperville...see my review if you care.  A few months later, the tiny crack  slowly creeped across half of the windshield and tripled in size.  I was reluctant to get it replaced since I was afraid it'd just happen again and I had gotten used to having the crack along my line of sight.  But then the winter returned, I figured I could use all the visibility I can get so I sucked it up and headed over to Fernandez.  On the phone, I was quoted a new windshield for $150, but they ended up having a used one so I snagged that instead.  A hour and $120 later, my windshield was crackfree.

The interior of my car was still quite messy from the work, with specks of glass, foam, and some residue on the dash.  But you know what, I would have easily paid double the price for a new windshield at the dealer, so I'm grateful and the place still gets five stars.

Oh, and the waiting area is not as bad as some other reviews say it is...it's an auto body shop, not a spa.  Bring a book, magazine, or better yet, your iPhone and your car will be ready in no time.

Dropped off my car to replace a cracked windshield, picked it up 2 hours later, fixed and good as new. Good price too.

i dont know anything about cars. or fixing them. i just know how to drive one.

my side mirror broke and yelp lead me to fernandos. i called to inquire about a quote and they said 90 to replace the whole thing. that seemed reasonable, esp when i was guessing itd prob cost 200.

it was actually only 75. and in less than an hour i was out the door. no glitz no glamour. and quite frankly i prefer it that way. if i break another mirror, hopefully some goon wont run into my car again, fernandos will be the first place i go to.

Excellent, fast service at over half the price!  I'd give six stars if i could.  My car was broken into which was troublesome enough, then to find the busted passenger window would be a out of pocket expense made a bad situation even worse.  My insurance company was nice enough to quickly connect me with a glass repair company that gives their customers "great discounts", needless to say after receiving the $277 quote i took to the internet just to compare pricing.  So glad i did because i stumbled across Fernandez who quickly provided me with a 110 quote, got me in an hour later and for over half the originally quoted price took case of the installation of the new wiindow, even vacuumed all the broken glass..AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!!

My windshield developed cracks at its very top, and I feared the whole thing would crack into pieces if I hit a big pothole. I went in this morning as a walk-in, and they took me immediately. The quote was $150, and took just about an hour - they also saved my city sticker and I-PASS and affixed them to the new windshield. Everyone there was polite, fast, and efficient. I hope I won't have a reason to go back, but if I do, I know I'll be in good hands. If you need your vehicle's glass repaired, go there!

I'm really amazed how these guys can do such an awesome job replacing a window for $115...INSTALLED!  Plus, it took 45 minutes. That wasn't even enough time to finish my gyro sandwich at Niko's Gyros just down the block!

Maybe they're melting down the broken glass & molding new ones out back....

I can't say how happy I am that I took my car to Fernandez to have my window repaired.  My window was making a very loud screeching noise, think nails on a chalkboard, so I asked the people who change my oil, PepBoys if it needed some lubrication and how much it might cost to fix.  They told me that I needed a new window regulator and that it would be $300 to fix.

By searching online I came across Fernandez, as mentioned I'm happy I did.  I called and told them that I would need a new window regulator and they quoted me $100.  The gentlemen told me that I could take it in any time as they don't take appointments.  When I arrived he told me it would be about an hour.  When I returned they told me what I originally thought, I needed to have my window lubricated and that it was only going to cost me $40.  In disbelief I gave him $60 and told him to keep the $20 as a tip.

These guys are fast, honest, and cheap.  I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to have their auto windows fixed or replaced.

Went out saturday night, my back window shattered when I closed the door of my Ford Escape.  I wasn't sure if I could get it repaired on Sunday since companies charge double if they are even open.  Looked on Yelp and found this place.  I read the reviews and to my amazement they were open on Sunday.  I did get quotes and they were about in the range of 258.00.  So I took it to Fernandez and within an hour (alittle before) and $70.00,glass cleaned up,  I was on my way.  Very happy camper.  I recommend them, low price, fast service and open 7 days aweek.

Long story short:  the front passenger window of my car is smashed in, and the jerks jack up the mirror in the process.  Thankfully, they didn't steal anything, but still a pain.  On the recommendation of three people (a friend and two cops), I take the car to Fernandez Auto Glass.  $75 for a used window, ready in 45 minutes.  Awesome!  As we're walking up the street to have lunch, the guy runs out, and tells me there's more damage.  He asks if I want them to fix it.  He says if they have it in stock, it's another $70.  Um, yeah!   And get this:  They were done in 45 minutes, just like he said.

    I absolutely recommend this place!

  • *****

They fixed my windshield quickly and were even able to fix a problem with the car's electrical system I thought I'd have to go to the dealer to get fixed. All for a reasonable price. Get there early or you may have to wait a while.

The only good thing that has happened to me in the last 48 hours in Fernandez.

Yesterday, some lowlife smashed my passenger window and snagged my 2 year-old Garmin out of my car.  I was all ready to drive over to the repair shop next to my house (lazy), but luckily my best friend pulled up Yelp and found Fernandez.

Twenty minutes later, we met with a repairman who quoted me $100 and told me he'd need 40 minutes.  I was so happy I almost kissed his face.  We further followed Yelp advice and headed over to Owen & Engine for drinks.  My car was done, looked great.  Happy and tired, we went on a little shopping trip to Home Goods and Target across the street where I bought a new GPS.

Unfortunately, said new GPS took me a strange way home that made me a little nervous, and I ended up backing into a dumpster.  Which smashed my back window.  That same day.  I am cursed.  So, I'm back at Fernandez this morning, sitting in the sparse waiting room.  Hey, at least there is free wifi.

So, everything is terrible, except for Fernandez.  The price is right, and they work quick.  Hope you guys never have to go.

Great price and done in 30 minutes! Highly recommended! If I could give more than five stars, I would! Fantastic place!

I unfortunately had my window smashed out on Monday morning/Sunday night at some point. Nothing was stolen, but I realized it as I walked to my car to start the week....needless to say not the best Monday morning.

I was recommended to go to Fernandez and it was great. I was the first customer there in the morning - arrived around 8:45am or so, cost $90 plus tax for a VW Beetle driver side window. They even vacuumed the glass up so I did not have to worry about stopping and cleaning out my car. I was in and out - made it to work only 2 hours late.

Waiting room has AC and they even put on the Olympics :)

I would recommend this for any glass repair.

My car was broken into near my boyfriend's house on Saturday night. Suck deal, because it's hard to find glass repair places that are open on Sundays.

Enter Fernandez, with panache and style. The first place I found to be open quoted me $220 and wouldn't have my window until the following day. Fernandez quoted me $75 and had my window in stock. Shortly after, I found myself sitting in the waiting room at Fernandez reading a book. An hour later, I left, thrilled.

Great price, quick service on a SUNDAY, and I hope I never have to come back for a new window, but if I do, I will be a repeat customer.

Once they got to me vehickle, the damn thang got did withing 45 mins as they also vaccumed the glass out of my car. Hopefully I wont have broken window issues again anytime soon, but if I do this will be my go to spot.

  • *****

If you have a broken window and you want it fixed properly, inexpensively and pronto this is the place. Add to this that they are friendly and open on Sunday.

One minor caveat, their waiting room is dismal -looks like the processing room at a jailhouse. However, there is a great spot on the corner less than 100ft away to grab a bite and read a book while you wait.

I took off one star for the waiting room, but otherwise, if you need your glass fixed, don't hesitate, go here.

My windshield got hit by a rock and had a chip with a small line across it.  My regular service shop wanted $300 to replace the window.  Other phone estimates were $250 and $200.  Fernandez was $150.

When he looked at the chip he said filling it for $50 would be sufficient and if the window cracked, he'd deduct the $50 from the cost of a replacement.  It was done in an hour and the repair looks like a raindrop on the windshield.

    I'd give them 10 stars.

  • *****

Same day service, low prices, fast turnaround...I'm impressed. They have a huge inventory of used parts, also.

One hour and a hundred bones later and you'd never know it happened. That's easier than a flat tire!

Fast service and cheap.  Found this shop on Yelp after my car got broken into a couple days ago.  Highly recommended.

This place is great!  My car window got busted over a Saturday night, so I was freaking out if someone would be open on Sunday.  Not only were they open, it only took one hour and $70 to fix!!!  I had french toast at the Golden nugget, and my car was fixed!!  Finally they even vacuumed all the glass out of my car!!!

  • *****

At this time yesterday, I was =(. My rear door window had been shattered and my stereo stolen - right in front of my apartment. A real tragedy.

Today, I am =). The guys at Fernandez fixed my baby up for 75, and I was out the door in half an hour. They even vacuumed up all the broken glass in my back seat, so I can start forgetting what happened Monday night (except when I try to turn on the radio, and it isn't there...).

    I'll definitely be recommending them.

Had my F-150 broken into and needed a replacement passenger window.  Called up Fernandez and was told they had a used window they could install on the spot for $70 out the door.  Drove over and installation was complete in 25 minutes.  Great place to get replacement mirrors as well!

This is the kind of Yelp listing that sounded to good to be true, but was 100% what I needed and was looking for.  I went to Riot Fest last weekend and came back to my parked car to find the rear passenger side window had been smashed.  Called for estimate out in the SW burbs and most were around $250.  Found this place thanks to you Yelpers, called and got the standard $75 quote, and "yes, I have it in stock".  As soon as I got there (on a Saturday morning), the guy saw my car and knew it was a rare model from the same year.  Checked and said he still had the glass.  I was out of there within an hour with a used replacement that looked and operated like new.  I drove out from Lisle and it was worth it.

Woke up to a smashed drivers window to start my Friday, $70 later by 9:00 the glass was replaced.  Great service, quick, friendly  THUMBS up !

Beautiful Fall day...decided to take my dog to the lakefront for a walk.  Come back to car and some moron decided to bust the window and go through the glove compartment.  BTW... NOBODY KEEPS ANYTHING VALUABLE IN A GLOVE COMPARTMENT ANYMORE.  Back to my review....

Called Fernandez at 3:00 pm to get estimate...arrive at 3:30pm (no wait).  He explains that the 'auto up/down' (Lexus) might not work with new window.  Take my dog for a walk while they install the new window.  Done in 45 minutes.  'Auto Up/down' works perfectly.

    Nice guys, nice job.  Thanks.

Thanks yelpers!  I saw all the great reviews and went there...

I got a broken windshield on my 2008 Toyota minivan after parking next to a highrise.  Something blew off of an upper story balcony.  The dealers repair estimates were somewhere between $500-$1000, and for slow service too.

Fernandez did the job for $185, no appointment, and only took a couple hours on a Friday afternoon.  Their waiting room sucks, so I took a look around for somewhere to go.  The Regal-14 theater complex was right there!  I saw a James Bond movie while my car was being fixed.  Nice.

They took care to remove and remount the rear-view mirror, iPass, and city sticker.  I was dreading have to get a replacement city sticker.   These guys are pros.

  • *****

Highly recommend these guys. My drivers side power window stopped working. In under 60 minutes, they had the regulator fixed. Toyota would charge me $500 for OEM parts and labor. Fernandez charged me $129 total, in under an hour.

  • *****

I am going to be short and to the point.

These guys are great. I needed a new windshield on my Ford Escape. I was in and out of there in two hours. I even dropped my car off at 4pm! The entire cost? $222. Good value and great service. Would recommend  them to anyone.

I have a 2000 blazer that needed a driver side window.  I called at 10:00 and they quoted me $70 for a used window installed.  Got there at 11:00 and they were done at 12:15.  Ice cold air conditioning in the waiting room and quick, professional service.

    I would recommend them!

  • *****

Thank you yelpers!!! I read all these reviews and had faith that this place would be a good choice and it was wonderful!!

I recently cracked the windshield in my car when I got into a small accident last weekend. I called, they gave me an estimate (mind you I was at work, this phone call was quick and efficient -- the way I like to do business) and told me to come in, no appointment needed.

Got there, dropped off the car at 3 PM, they told me an hour and a half. 4:30PM rolls around, I pay exactly what the estimate was and drove on out.

Couldnt be happier with the pleasant service and my new windshield looks great!!!

quick service, good price - OPEN SUNDAY!
Well, I forgot to stick my crappy $200 GPS in the glove box so some tool busted out my window and stole it. These guys were opened on Sunday and replaced the driver side window of my BMX X5 for $111. Some other guy was in there and had his passenger side window on his Civic replaced for $85. They are used windows, but it looks OK so far and the window goes up and down OK. Open Sunday from 9-3 which is good. Next time some other butt munch breaks into my car, I'll probably be taking it back there.

fyi - as an indication of Chicago, in the 1 hour I was there on a Sunday afternoon, they had about 5 cars with broken windows come by, a broken windshield and some poor sap with an entire missing sliding door on his minivan (they couldn't help that guy).

If I run into any problems with the window later I'll report back.
